**About Zerg**
iiZerg is an old linkshell dating back over four years, currently being led by six veteran members. It is comprised of about 75% of old generation (HNM era) players and members.
Zerg is a "strictly business" shell members. That does not mean the environment of the shell is not cordial or that we are not friends, but that we recognize that what makes a shell thrive is success. Momentum and member satisfaction is key to a healthy environment whereas failures and cynicism create a downward spiral.
Because we feel that questions of corruption, favoritism, and bias are harmful to a shell, we employ a DKP system with certain items having minimum attendance requirements. No loot system is ever perfect, but the consistent goal of the leadership is to make it that you get out of Zerg what you put into Zerg.
We can, and do, handsomely reward members who put in the time and effort. The following are our raid to looted items ratio for the last three months. This does NOT include free fall seals and +2 items either.
June : 22 raids to 433 loot
July: 32 raids to 896 loot
August: 38 raids to 475 loot
The system is calibrated such that a member with perfect attendance (on only scheduled nightly events) can complete either a full AF3+2 set within a month, or one stage of an Empyrean weapon. Much more DKP is up for grabs every month when HNMs are included. Additionally we have had members as new as two weeks have received items like the Epona's Ring. In the long term, dedicated members are eligible for Relics and Mythics as the bank allows.
Members can take a payout from the bank monthly, with the maximum amount limited by the member's attendance % for the last month.
We still consider ourselves an HNMLS in that we actively camp any HNMs that members want drops from or ones from which we stand to make a profit. In addition, we view ourselves as in direct competition with every other shell on the server and we embrace confrontation with other shells. That does not simply mean taking white mobs (although we do that without hesitation), it means we strive to be the best on the server and feel that "war" with other shells is part of the game. We expect our members to contribute towards linkshell success through dedicated and intelligent play. Members are expected to know how the perform their jobs optimally and strive towards maximized gear and build.
**Raids and Schedule**
We raid Sunday through Friday (Saturdays off) starting at 8:30p Eastern for 3~ hours.
In addition any HNM pop is considered mandatory if you are online.
We aim to do an extensive Voidwatch run once a week (7+ pops), Dynamis/Einherjar twice a week, and Abyssea three times a week. Two Abyssea days are dedicated to farming items for the current 85 stage Empyrean upgraders, and the other one is allocated towards both 90 stage upgrading and AF3+2 completion. One Abyssea day may be replaced by KS99, Sky, Sea, and other content as necessary.
Which raid on which day is variable, but will be posted at the end of the previous day's event. This is done to disincentivize habitual skipping on certain days.
For Abyssea, you are expected to have enough stones on hand for LS events. This does not mean you can't do Abyssea outside the shell, merely that the impetus is on you to gather the appropriate recharge/extension Abyssites and manage the time you spend in Abyssea so that personal activities do not interfere with your membership. I can't imagine it still being an issue at this point, but for those who live in Abyssea being low on stones is not an excuse to skip. We do not specifically farm time/lights, if we get low on time as we go then we set more stones. You are expected to be able to set at least 120 minutes worth of time in Abyssea for our events.
For Dynamis you are expected to be able to enter on LS run days. There will be at least a day's warning so that you do not use your entry ahead of time. You are free to do Dynamis on your own time on days where the lsmes is not set to Dynamis.
**What we are looking for**
Recruitment is opening in lieu of a few core members' RL situations leaving them unable to make events.
Most members are highly versatile therefore we prize activity level and skill most in applicants over any specific jobs. However as everyone wants to get off their mage jobs, we would be particularly interested in WHM, BLM, and SMN (preferably with Alexander). BRD is also nice.
Conversely we are NOT eager to take on someone who can only fulfill the role of physical DPS and whom we must significantly invest in, however exceptional applicants are always considered. Please note that there IS a DKP reward for having appropriate support jobs leveled (scaled to your monhtly attendance).
We are looking for players who can make at least 50% of our scheduled events (i.e. you play at least 3 nights a week from Sunday through Friday). We are particularly interested in anyone who stays on for extended periods during the day and would be available for rotating HNMs.
While FFXI is not a 24/7 game anymore and we are not a 24/7 shell as a result. However being a member of Zerg means that your playtime is LS time. This does not mean we penalize people for not playing enough per day or per week. If you can't make it online or don't have time, that will always be acceptable. However if you have time to be on the game, you should be at our events.
Moreover, you are expected to be on the iiZerg pearl unless you have a specific reason not to be (a secondary Limbus or Salvage shell for instance). As a shell that actively camps HNMs, it is inconvenient and annoying to track down members in social shells when something pops.
In general, we don't expect applicants to be fully geared, however we do expect gear that reflects a commitment towards performance and shows a solid grasp on job mechanics. Gear expectations rise the less versatile you are, so if you are a melee only and your TP set includes items such as Garrulous Rings, you should probably save yourself the hassle of applying.
We also expect applicants to be fully merited on all primary jobs at the time of application.
**What's in it for you**
So what's in it for you, working as a cog in a system vs. low manning?
We offer a structured and stable environment where you get out what you put in, and where you have the opportunity to experience content besides Abyssea with harp darps.
While we do employ a DKP system, the vast majority of items are up for grabs even to newer members due to relatively low inflation. As previously mentioned our system is designed for the completion of a full AF3+2 set a month (both +1 seals and +2 gems) or one stage of an Empyrean weapon. We offer monthly payouts from the bank. You are eligible for Empyrean upgrading once you can afford it (again, one month) and we are convinced you don't eat paste. Empyreans can be completed in as few as three days.
We feel that when you wear our pearl you are a representative of us, and therefore we have every incentive to pimp you out. That includes most members having at least one job with an Empyrean and all important gear, and we take pride in "epeen" gear:

We have made over 35 Relics, and acquired 13 Adaman Hauberks, 7 Ridills, 6 Dalmaticas, 3 Defending Rings, 12 Ace's Helms, 13 Hauteclairs, and 5 Shadow Rings (when those mobs actually mattered and/or were World Spawns). We beat AV before the 80 level cap raise or the Alexander 2hr.
