Think it's 10 merits and some item plus a mini game.

Yep. 10 merits, 1 Kindred's Crest and 1 random item. Then there is the mini game.

I'll be dat mining also since that is how I get all of the items and stuff onto BGWiki. I just don't know how you guys always complete updating before mine even starts downloading.

I do my initial download at work which has a nice fat pipe so things go fairly quickly.

What's funny is that someone on the Official Forums accused BG of ripping off everyone else's dat mining. We have 4 miners here in this thread who do their own work though.

I just find this amusing.

If you sit there and spam "file check," it will update you early. That's how .dat miners get it earlier. You may have to change one .dat file to force it to work, though.
