2 Week old car. Blown tire. Covered under warranty?

Hey there, just upgraded my car about 2 weeks ago, was driving home Saturday night and where I live there are raised manhole covers and junk(road is unpaved for almost a month now > ). I went over something just right where my tire blew out I guess. I went to a repair shop(not my dealership) today and they told me it was beyond repair and would be about $150 for a new tire. Anyone know if I go to my dealership service center if it would be covered under warranty? I'm riding on my spare now but it's so fugly Need it fixed asap because I can't stand looking at it like this lol.

edit: Bought it brand new and it has like sub 500 miles on it, if that matters.

Most likely no. Dealerships are sketchy when it comes to warranting tires, with good reason. If it's a genuine flaw in the manufacturing they will honor it. But anything that occurs from regular road wear they won't do a thing. It's worth a try though.

Alrighty, going to head there tomorrow. Hoping it'll be covered somehow but you guys are probably right.
I -really- hope that they can just fix it right away and I don't have to drive around all lopsided much longer

It's kind of surprising that the tire completely blew out.

Tires and brakes are the only thing not warranted for my car. So doubt your tires are warranted.

Youd have better luck with the city.

A similar thing happened here with an unpaved road coming down a bridge (making it unavoidable), and the public got fed up. Everyone started sending in their tire and alignment repair bills to the city and basically told them to pay it or theyre sueing the city, and the city took care of it and paved that road asap. It was all in the news and everything lol. If your dealership is a no go, call and bitch to the city and see if you get any luck.

Tires are considered "wear and tear" and not generally covered under any type of warranty, unless you bought them from a tire store and they warranty them for whatever reason. I wouldn't imagine the dealership is going to have anything to do with replacing the tire though

My girlfriend's new car blew a tire after 2 days. Called the dealer, they told her to bring it in and they'd repair it. Went to the dealer, they said "not covered". Guy on the phone was wrong.

Best chance is to go to a tire shop - they'll determine if it was a puncture/collision/whatever or an actual failure of materials. If it's the latter (unlikely but possible) they may be able to replace it for free or cheap and get the rest of their money from the tire manufacturer - if it's a puncture you are likely SOL.

My girlfriend's car was a puncture on the sidewall, just shit luck, but the tire shop got the manufacturer to knock 25% off a new tire, which was nice of them.

Ultimately, it's unlikely that they will repair it for you unless you lie about not driving over manhole covers/uneven pavement and claim adamantly that it blew out randomly.

If it makes you feel better when I first got my new car three days later someone broke into it while I was at work. I was not fucking happy. But that's what I get for working in the ghetto.

Dunno when I bought my car, after 2 weeks or so, the front tire went flat because of a o-ring problem. Nissan fixed it and didnt cost me anything. Doesnt hurt to ask.

I am the authority on all things car's related, being a former salesman and now an ASE certified mechanic. That being said, the answer to your question is no, unless you opted for the optional wheel and tire insurance. Like the above poster said, they might fix a flat for free, takes 5 minutes and uses about .02 of materials to plug or patch a tire. Or in Zubuis' case, the O ring he's referring to is an O ring on the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), which is an actual physical defect of the car, which would be covered. If your tire is blown out from hitting a pothole, or some sort of road hazard, you are SOL.

If your dealer does not offer tire and wheel insurance, most tire shops will offer to put a warranty on new tires, even if you didn't buy the tires from the tire shop in the first place. The tires usually have to be less than a month old though.

Probably out of luck, sans bitching at the city/town, unless you're still covered bumper to bumper.

After asking a few people I figured would know what to do I was told it was a state road and to give them a call. I called them up, this one lady got on the phone and was like "uhh i don't know how to help you, what's your name and number I'll have Ralph give you a call"... I'm going to just keep calling everyday I guess and maybe something will come of it.

Also if you live in CT and this happens... just ask for Ralph? lol
    ty for all the replies

    edit: I paid for the new tire and just have been using a bunch of alternate roads instead of using the main road. Anyone in Norwalk/Wilton, CT on BG? If there are(probably not) how do you deal with Main ave/Danbury Rd. Has been like this for a month now and is such BS ^^;
