Woah, those are pretty nice. Where did you pick them up? The corner vertical bookshelf.
You need to put something over that fireplace, a picture or something that draws attention away from the bricks lol
The bricks don't match the blue at all. They definitely won't go well with the bar you posted either.
Paint it white again. Get a mantel piece (or whatever it's called), put things on it. Classy things. Ask the gay if you need advice or something.
Try to stick to a color scheme. Mixing colors is all good, but if you don't know how, it will only look chaotic and bad.
Details, such as shelves would be the last thing I bought in general, when I know what I want to have and where. Don't start putting things on the walls until you have all the furniture where you want it to be.
Why can't you remove that horrible carpet again?
shocker that the foreigner doesnt think red white and blue go together. fucking terrorist. i think im gonna put a big ass clock over the fireplace. idk really. you all know those bricks look mad tight. just admit it.
SHUSH IT LOOKS 2 FLY
I'd paint the bricks black or dark grey, should go well with the colors you are thinking. And when I say bricks, I mean the whole wall, mortar and all... painting the bricks red and the mortar white Tyven style looks stupid lol. Since you cant have the real deal, at least make it so its obvious the colors are fake to begin with, and that you wanted them like that.
Found this about removing paint from brick:
'My boyfriend and I recently bought a house that has a brick fireplace that was painted. We really enjoy the warmth of a fire all winter long and want to put in a wood stove insert. We had a chimney inspector come and among other things flagged the paint on the fireplace as a fire hazard for the wood stove. I couldn't believe it. So I did a search for removing paint from a fireplace and I found some great solutions.
I have to tell others what worked for us. After the removing process, we learned that there were 5 layers of paint on the fireplace! White, Mint Green, Creamy Yellow, Brown and another new layer of white paint.
I got Soy Gel http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002Z11MY/...5&camp=211189]. It is a non-chemical solution to removing paint. We did a test spot first to see how long we could leave this gel on before it hardened. Well it still hasn't hardened and the longer we leave it on the easier the paint comes off.
The first layer wrinkled up and peeled off just like a layer of latex. The next 4 layers were easily removed with a small putty knife by scraping the brick.
Then we took a wire brush and brushed our hearts out to reveal some really nice red brick with a few black bricks throughout.
The process went much faster than I anticipated and we did apply the gel every time we were done peeling and scraping for that session. The more you put on the more effective it was.
It is very messy so make sure you have everything well covered.'
Hope this helps. You probably have some really awesome brick under there.
dammit, but painting that shit was the worst shit ever, now it will all be a waste when i remove it for a more natural and badass look that will make girls throw their vaginas at me
as a gay I demand my voice be heard on this matter. the bricks should be the focal point of the room; they are a design element. get all that terrible paint off of them.
GDI
I guess I'll hijack this thread now. I tried to keep common elements in the pictures, so you guys could piece them together and see how the room actually fits together.

Yes. I have a cactuar plush on my dresser. That door goes down to the front stairs of the house. I keep it blocked/locked due to lack of useable corners in this room. Thinking of mounting the TV to the wall, but I don't know yet. That wall definitely needs something.

The door on the right is the exit, the one in the middle of the picture is my closet. Black thing with stuff on it is a little fridge, for bottles of water, random drinks and snack shit I take to work.

Kind of a dead corner... stupid fucking radiator kills the corner. I'd rather be cold and not have it there. Big black thing is kinda a huge leather bench type thing, has storage inside.

Hideous bedding. Nice breeze from the windows during the spring/fall... so this is where I like my bed. Not much choice anyway - I don't think...
Ignoring the little indent by the entrance, the room is about 11'6" x 12'6".... roughly.
Think it's pretty much overall fail at this point. I'll probably start by getting a somewhat coordinated/not hideous bedding set.
Not sure yet if I can paint the walls. Open to suggestions... but the fucking cactuar plush stays.
Your floor is nice! You might want to get a small rug.
I think the radiator actually looks pretty cool. You could get some kind of shelves on the wall above it to store your games. The shelves you have now don't look that good.
You need different curtains.
You could change the direction of the bed, to have the window behind, I have hard time judging how high/low the window is though, so not sure that would work though. You could get a small desk instead of what you use for your computer right now, have it between the windows with a proper chair. What you have now seems really uncomfortable to me.
The chest of drawers looks really boring. You could paint it, or at least get different knobs or both.
I'd probably go for things that look industrial and metallic, to match the radiator.
Put a different fabric on the top of the black thing you use for storage. The black really doesn't go well with anything that is in the room right now.
Yeah, I used to have a 6x8 rug, but wound up chucking it. I might go with something smaller though.
I'll look into that - only the top two shelves are actually games - the rest are shitty DVDs I accumulated over the years and never actually watch anyway.I think the radiator actually looks pretty cool. You could get some kind of shelves on the wall above it to store your games. The shelves you have now don't look that good.
$5 each at Christmas Tree Shop. Any suggestions? I like the single panel drapes, because the next house over is maybe 10-15' feet away, and there are three windows directly across from my room, and three more slightly higher up... so I like the privacy without needing to close the blinds completely. Curtains are kinda transparent, so I can still see outside without moving them... but I figure no one can really see inside much. I figure having the curtain there, with the blinds down, but opened, creates kind of a "tinted window" effect. You need different curtains.
I considered it - but considering I sit up a lot in bed if I'm reading or on my laptop, I tend to lean on the wall behind... so not ideal... I plan on getting a headboard for the bed anyway - but it would block the window off considerably to move the bed like that... Not a fan of blocking windows - I like as much fresh air / natural light as possible (except when the natural light wakes me up at 6 am on my day off). You could change the direction of the bed, to have the window behind, I have hard time judging how high/low the window is though, so not sure that would work though.
Current setup isn't ideal comfort wise - mostly due to space restictions... I have a smallish LCD monitor in my basement, currently not in use... right now the computer setup you see is actually my TV with a Wii/PS3 and PC all hooked into it... again, not ideal if I want to run FFXI while watching a movie or a baseball game... (which has led to decreased time in FFXI...) - but it's an attempt to get by on the space I have. The space between the windows is only about 23 inches... The 23 inch segment starts 55 inches from the corner (where the lamp is)... 55 inches is the width of my bed, so it'd be tight, even if I turned the bed...You could get a small desk instead of what you use for your computer right now, have it between the windows with a proper chair. What you have now seems really uncomfortable to me.
This is a good idea - seems like something simple enough to do if I can get my hands on a staple gun.Put a different fabric on the top of the black thing you use for storage. The black really doesn't go well with anything that is in the room right now.
I'd wait with curtains to see what colors you end up getting I guess. You could get blinds as well, which would probably serve your purposes as well as what you have right now. I haven't seen the windows, but if they're ugly, you can always combine the blinds with decorative curtains of some sort.

Is there space under your bed? And if so, are you using it?
If not, get something like this:
http://www.ikea.com/se/sv/images/pro...E083361_S4.jpg
Move the things you have in the black storage thing in that. Get rid of the black storage thing and get a chair.
I'd probably go for something like this, because it's comfortable and doesn't take much space at all.

Get a taller bookshelf than what you got, or just put shelves on the walls and store things there. You have lot of low furniture which only takes precious floor space right now.
Get pretty boxes for the things you have lying around right now. It will make the room look less messy.
Don't use too many different colors, unless you're really good at mixing them.
Currently using both... here's a better shot to get an idea on the windows.

Seven inches of clearance under the bed... Not used.Is there space under your bed? And if so, are you using it?
Will look into it. Probably want something easy to move if I go that route, as I can't see leaving the chair by the window (pointless) or by the TV (in the way unless being used).Move the things you have in the black storage thing in that. Get rid of the black storage thing and get a chair.
I'd probably go for something like this, because it's comfortable and doesn't take much space at all.
Next step, buy a ton of second hand books to fill it up?Get a taller bookshelf than what you got, or just put shelves on the walls and store things there. You have lot of low furniture which only takes precious floor space right now.![]()
Yeah, I'm awful with color coordination. I don't have a ton of stuff that needs to be boxed, that isn't thrown into my basement at this point. Stuff on the dresser includes like deodorant and stuff, some candles throughout the room... typical guy clutter like keys, wallet, sunglasses...Get pretty boxes for the things you have lying around right now. It will make the room look less messy.
