Ugh, killing the mom and not the kid is going to come back to bite him in a big way. That was so stupid to kill her in the first place. Even if she did kill a couple (bad) people to save her kid, the kid didn't necessarily know that. So, now instead of having 2 monsters that feed off the dead and maybe bad people when they get sick, you probably have 1 monster that feeds only off people that are alive. He had to of thought that through -- he's been a hunter his entire goddamn life, lol. Bad writing there, but beyond that, I actually really liked this episode.

After having seen the preview for next week, I think the whole thing about killing the mother was just a really cheap, poorly set-up written plot to make Dean feel extra guilty. Next week is all about his uber guilt.

yep, figured. i love the show but well-written and original episodes have been few and far between for a long time. why the writers (is it gamble, mainly?) keep beating the "trust issues" dead horse is beyond me.

i mean it's like god, ok, i get it. i've gotten it for the past 3 seasons. dean is a depressed individual who feels deep guilt and has monumental trust issues with sam. they need to stop fucking writing episodes that keep echoing what we've all known for years.

i really, really hate to say it but i think the show is like entourage for me, where it jumped the shark a while ago and i just didn't want to admit it.

I hate to admit it also because I love the show so much but the season 5 finale (not sure if right, I'm thinking the one that Lucifer and Michael get trapped) was such a fantastic episode. Probably my favorite episode in the show, very emotional, and I love how they told the story using the car. The series should've ended on that note.

The last episode basically only served to remind me how much better the how was when it actually had a supporting cast.

Was it ever concluded what they were? They seemed to be witches in the beginning, but later on they seemed to be something else due to their strength etc.

Yay, Cordy and Spike! I was kinda glad they didn't die and also, she has aged very well! Hopefully next episode they actually advance the plot.

Was kind of annoyed they didn't even question the witch or whatever he was about how he stopped the guy. I figured it was a leviathan and they weren't even surprised that he was able to knock it out.

The only real inconsistency is that the witch even can do something like that so fast. I mean they had to incant to fuck with the Winchesters a bit there, but he just instantly knocked out the leviathan. Which means...why did they not kill the Winchesters outright? I know plotkai and shit, but yeah...

who knows, they could always go back to them to figure out how to fight the leviathans. these days all you can ask for is that it not be too terribly written, lol.

It does make you wonder, if the Winchesters can do magic, incantations and all that shit, why don't they become warlocks, able to kill their enemies with no fuss? I know, there'd be no stories if they could kill something easily, just seems a waste.

To do the things like witches do they have to have a pact with a demon and then they go to hell and become demons themselves a la Ruby.

I'm not entirely sure they're witches for that reason. They were stronger than any witch they encountered previously - or perhaps they're the first witches or something. They've been living for centuries. Iunno, the end seemed to point more towards them not actually being witches, especially since the whole chicken feet thing didn't work on them. They could be gods pretending to be witches; wouldn't be the first time gods or angels pretend to be something they're not.
