I'm just starting to sell property and casualty insurance for state farm. pay scale is so so, but just starting out is very hard. I only get $500/month salary. Total for the wife and I right now is about $1700/month income. short post cause i just got a new client. i'll revisit thread....
Sorry for the unserious response but i just have to:
Why don't you just sit tight and let the free market provide for you?
Alrighty, I'm just going to give ya some money making ideas i did when i was in college. it payed for damn near 80% of 5 years tuition.
First. Learn a knit craft. I personally learned how to crochet. i just made blankets and mittens and hats. I sold them on eBay. Blankets when for 40$ and sold 2 a week. and I sold mitten and hat combos for 20$ and sold a like 4 a week. I shipped by USPS was the cheapest service I could find at the time. although i don't know how much you'll be able to do with your work schedule.
Second. Go to Craigslist and raid the free shit section for easy stuff to move. I would pick up free tv's and computer parts. and sell that shit to pawnshops.
Third. option is if you have extra rooms where you live try to rent one out.
that's actually not a bad career at all, but you need to approach it properly. I used to look down on insurance salesmen until I met a few who treated it as a small private business, and they're wildly successful. if it's something you enjoy, you need to start making it work for you.
if you need help figuring out your finances, pm me and I'll get you started at the very least. there's an amazing peace of mind that comes from knowing every penny of your budget sheet inside out, or maybe that's just my jew speaking
It is a good opportunity to learn the business of insurance, get my licenses, and build stronger sales skills. But at state farm, the salespeople do not retain clients. The Agents keep them in their book of business, therefor I never get residule income. After a few years, I hope to go independant.
We can cut corners with cable, internet, and some misc. things. It's things like my car needs around $1000 worth of work and the wifes needs $1500. We want her to go back to college to finish her RN degree to make better money. We just want to be able to go to the movies once in awhile. We're simple people. I don't care about trying to get a bmw and she doesn't care about living in a big house. This is the first time since the recession where I feel like I'm losing hope. I don't think I've been late on a bill in 8 years and that's now being threatened. Sorry for the QQ...
are your finances organized? do you have a formal budget?
I know people are going to hate me for saying this, but if you're young enough have you thought military? Let's face it, nowadays that's the best "welfare" the US gives. They will pay for your housing and then some to help with bills, you can get a free education out of it for when you get out, on top of other shit.
I'd say for sure try for section 8 first, but you might want to think of it.
For the most part yes. As stated, bills outweigh income so I've had to resort to using credit cards for food, gas, and even pay some bills like my phone with a CC. I was at least making a little more then minimum payments on the cards, but I can't do more then the minimum now.
Once I start receiving commission checks we can start getting a little back to normal, but the debt is huge. I'm looking at a total of around $28k in secured and unsecured debt. Everyone wants the winning powerball ticket. That would be awesome, but I'd really like a $10k prize just to get some breathing room lol...
I'm 30 so that's a no go. Not in the best shape either. Funny thing is my w-2 from last year shows I made around $28k alone. This year I think I've made a total of around $7k taxible income. About college, I started going for programming but had to quit due to moving and other life circumstances. It would be nice to go back. I like working for State Farm, and it's cool to save people money, but I've never made over $30k a year and it's sort of depressing.
how is your wife working 50 hour weeks and you only have 1700 a month between you both? maybe I misread you. and why do you have two cars? the more you say about your situation, the more it's clear that you need to seek professional help. 30 is too old for military?
Oh, meant to add this to a post earlier. The political comments I really don't understand. I don't know what a strawman pole is or any of that other business. I just know I'm not looking to abuse our system or to work the least amount as possible. My credit has already dropped from mid 700s to my last check with Trans Union being a 670. Probably from high DTI and maxed credit lines. I just want to stop the bleeding and get some temporary help. I guess I'll go apply online tonight when home from work and if my boss finds out, oh well.
don't mind the political stuff, the political threads couldn't contain all the cum from their circle jerk so it's spilling into here
