I liked the DLC for DS2, but it was waaay too short for the price.

so 3 will have a new protagonist? Or is this just some backstory from a different perspective?
coop
Where Kyo at?
oh shit
God yes. Loved the atmosphere of this game on PC, at midnight with headphones on. Haven't been that scared or immersed in a game since I was a kid playing resident evil.
Kind afraid they will just make a "Lost Planet" esque game
As soon as co-op enters the equation, things stop being scary. Just knowing there's someone else there does wonders for confidence.
Honestly, the way resident evil went, I can see dead space going. Started off as a horror game, moved into the action genre.
Do I like the decision? No. But it sells, unfortunately. But I'm not gonna count it off till I see it in action; every publisher gets one chance with their IP before I write off their new direction (operation raccoon city fucked up capcoms chances with me and the RE franchise for a co op game...).
If they can somehow keep the horror aspect of it going while in co-op it'll be amazing. Playing a game like The Hidden at a lan is so much fun really late at night. Scared at every corner then everyone yelling OHFUCKOHFUCKOHFUCK all at once.
I agree that if they can make co-op scary it'll be amazing. Definitely a wait and see thing for me, but I'm not expecting good things.
I'd say it stops being scary when you get heavy artillery and armor.
There are three types of horror: startling, disturbing, and terrifying. Dead Space falls into the first category. The second including games like Silent Hill, and the third including games like Penumbra/Amnesia.

I want it.
Just finished playing 1 and 2 back-to-back. I have to say, neither were scary or had moments like RE5(which, I actually finished right before jumping into DS1 lol), where I was challenged by enemies(crab boss, regenerating blob, headhunters + mobs of zombies, etc.). Everything was too squishy in Dead Space, especially with a nearly infinite supply of slowga. The fact that you could beat the game with an upgraded 'pistol' with zero difficulty, kinda kept both games from being that RE replacement in outerspace.
Bitching aside, if they combine the atmosphere of DS1, but more dire/scarier(SH is a good model, I need to play/finish those), add in the "gotcha!" moments from DS2, and top it all off with improved enemy AI and some actual boss fights? Please take my credits + overabundant power nodes I left in DS1,2 lol

Dead Effect 3
Ending explanation DLC confirmed for winter.
ahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahaha.
Oh man, that is awful. I mean is anybody really surprised with the differences between 1 and 2 that 3 would end up being Gears of War?
At least 1 made an attempt to make ammo and health scarce, ultimately it failed but in 2 they were just like "Fuck it, shooter it is."
Would not at all be surprised if they added regenerating health too.
yup... They're butchering the game into "Generic FPS". Shame too, Going to definitely ruin a rather decent idea they had with DS1.
Yeah, that's what is frustrating about this whole series. They have a game idea that is really desirable in the horror genre. Space is a fucking awesome place to scare the shit out of people. The eeriness of the unknown + DEADness of SPACE lol I wish someone could kidnap the twisted minds behind Silent Hill(or Eternal Darkness?) and make a proper hijacked-spaceship-claustrophobia nightmare scenario :D
