Silent Hill atmosphere is always a mixed bag, sure the locales were spooky, but the enemy designs are and have been lame for the most part outside of Pyramid Head/nurses, and the real fear of enemies came from the fact that SH games never got past PS1 era clunky-as-fuck controls. I rented Homecoming a couple weeks back and it became the first game I've ever sent back without finishing, it was damn near unplayable.
I do agree that DS needs to tighten up the ammo supply though, hopefully they do well with the harder modes this time around and put you into spots where you need some creativity to squeeze by.
It would be awesome if Frictional Games would work with Visceral then there MIGHT be some hope to returning to the eerie feeling of the first game. I'm all for guns blazing at zombies, but if I want that, then I'll stick to Left 4 Dead.
Trailer pretty much killed any doubt over whether this game would be scary. Oh well, guess it could still be fun.

I'm really disappointed with the direction they're going. They have the monster design down, but all they needed was less surprise scares and more atmosphere that doesn't simply rely on dark rooms to scare you.
I'm a little confused on how drop in drop out Co-Op is supposed to work without making the baby sitting game RE5 was. I really hope I don't have to drag around a half wit AI to experience the game solo. I loved the first game, and the 2nd was still good despite a few moments that were just stupid.
CO-OP IS OPTIONAL

That sounds like an awesome idea then.
co-op partner is Isaac hallucinating, duh
well since single player is still one guy can I still tin foil hat over human enemies and a cover system, because that bothers me even more then the thought of an NPC following me.
Sorry for double, guess I should finish reading a thread before responding.
Don't know what the problem is. DS2 set up the idea of human enemies, trying to control the marker technology. It only makes sense for you to encounter more of them at some point. And if that's the case, a cover system is a god send for the clunky controls of the past 2 games.
Am I the only one who is totally okay with the cover mechanic solely because it makes infinitely more sense for a 46-year old electrical engineer to hide behind some shit rather than doing Chow Yun Fat run-and-gun shit?
How bout it makes more sense for him to use cover, instead of taking mutated human-aliens who's sole purpose is to kill him, then turn him into one of their own, head on.
