    Mic Won't Work In Ventrilo

I haven't used vent in so long, I'm not even sure if I've ever used it on this computer. My mic works fine in Skype, but nobody can hear me in Ventrilo. My buddy had some mic issues recently that he fixed by upgrading his OS to Windows 7, but I'm already on Windows 7 so that's not an option for me. I'm running vent as administrator, I don't have anything muted, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

You need to be running vent as the administrator. If you do not run as admin your binds will not work.

Take a screenshot and post it of your setup screen.

A couple of things you can try:

-Select a specific device from the dropdown menu for "Input Device" instead of leaving it as Default.
-Use the Test feature at the bottom left (after selecting a codec and format). Use your PTT key after you click test to see how it sounds when played back, if anything.

Have you tried reinstalling your sound drivers?

Just checked this post, sorry I missed the admin part...
Krye is on to something though. Sometimes if you have more than one mic i.e. a headset mic and a maybe a built in webcam mic that can cause conflicts. if you have only one device still make sure that it is selected there.

I only have one mic and there's only one device listed in the drop down menu, selecting it does nothing.

No, I haven't, I'll ask my friend to help me try that later.

    Fixed it.

Recording Input > microphone properties > levels > was set to 0

I wonder how it would have worked for Skype then since those properties are global.

No clue, but I definitely use Skype every day and it works fine.
