Season 2 of the FX hit American Horror Story is shaping up to be even wilder than season 1. Case in point: EW has learned exclusively that Big Love‘s Chloe Sevigny is in final talks to join the second season, set to begin production this summer. Sevigny will play a character named Shelly the Nymphomaniac, who is one of the mortal enemies of Jessica Lange’s character. Basically, prepare yourself for Lange vs. Sevigny! The writers and producers of AHS were such fans of Sevigny that they wrote the part with her in mind.
The actress will join Lange, Zachary Quinto, Adam Levine, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Lily Rabe in the new season, which Murphy has revealed will be set in an East Coast institution for the criminally insane run by Lange’s character.

Set in 1964, American Horror Story: Asylum stars Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, Zachary Quinto, James Cromwell, and Joseph Fiennes. Principal photography on the new minseries began on July 17 and it premieres on FX in October.

"When we launched the show last year, we kept quiet about the closed-ended nature of the show because we didn't want to tip off the audience that the characters were not going to survive," explained co-creator and executive producer Ryan Murphy. "Now that it has been established that each year is a closed-ended story, the time seemed right to reveal what we're calling the new installment.

"We picked 'Asylum' because it not only describes the setting - an insane asylum run by Jessica Lange's character which was formerly a tuberculosis ward - but also signifies a place of haven for the unloved and the unwanted. This year's theme is about sanity and tackling real life horrors."

I may watch this again. Was hoping the 1 & 2nd EP's were good, but failed. Never went back.

I just watched the season over the last 2 nights, and every time I see the actor playing Tate, I'm struck by the similarity to Malcom McDowell in Clockwork Orange.

Somehow Jessica Lange looks younger in this show than the last. Didn't know James Cromwell was in this season, awesome!

Chloe Sevigny!~ I'm really excited now! I loved her in Hit and Miss. And I'm glad Zachary Quinto is back for another season.

I hope Adam Levine die early and often. He's a prick.

I'm so excited now.
