Definitely the weakest season. There were some scenes that I loved but the season never came together into anything coherent. I thought the ideas behind the characters was great. Papa Legdba, Madame, Voodo Queen, Zombie guy, Swam Witch, I really did like all of them but I feel like their background was way more interesting than anything they did on the show. I kept thinking the story will develop and we had more episodes to go and than I realized there were 2 episodes left and it never got better.
I have to agree, I love American Horror Story, but this season never got me "hooked" like season 1 did...
The story seemed very Lost- like with the writers constantly changing the storyline as the season progressed
Agree with everyone, meh finale. Misty's death was such a joke lol. "Welp she's dust now!" I had to rewind to make sure I didn't miss anything.
I think they would have been better served with more of an emphasis on Papa Legba. The personal hells were very interesting to me, except for Zoe's "oh em gee he broke up with me over and over." The ending would have had higher stakes if they were all facing eternity in hell for whatever reason. As it was, the main antagonists (Voodoo Queen, Delphine, Witch Hunters) were all wiped out before the finale.
So when Papa said Fiona had no soul was it because it belonged to the Axeman?
I guess? You can hear him repeat "we had a deal" or "you signed the contract" or something. I don't remember when it occurred though.
I was a bit underwhelmed, as well, considering how crazy a lot of the prior episodes had been. I expected something with a lot more bang. A lot more fighting. Something epic-- but they seemed to just... top it off and tie up some loose ends. Harumph.
Tbh I was hoping that Cordelia would at the end walk out the door and everything turns to be her personal hell. She proves herself over and over and it all gets ripped away from her again and again.
Didn't she shout Balenciaga?

I just finished finished the finale and it had me thinking back at how much shit they crammed into thirteen episodes... They did a good job of summing things in up with some real vindication, which I personally needed because I'm getting tired of shows that rely so much on plot twists based on conniving characters (sup SoA). The core group came off much more like real people rather than some superdrama.
The biggest thing I walked away with was: Damn! Sucks to be Misty, that hell was hell.
Well, that's what subtitles seem to suggest anyway.
I just felt like we're missing the final episode where the larger group of witch hunters, not the ones that got murdered, but basically a parent group of that group and many others, comes in and epic witch battle ensues now that the supreme has been discovered.
Just didn't feel like there was closure for me. Felt like lots of loose ends and unanswered questions, lots of what ifs.
Really liked all the papa legba stuff and personal hells were interesting.
Definitely could have done without stevie nicks in any of the episodes, they just dragged the fuck on, man i was actually bored watching american horror story.
I kinda had that feeling though from the start that I wasn't going to enjoy this season as much as the others simply because the subject of this season wasn't something I had much interest in.
And seriously, this season had some of the most awkward sexual scenes i've ever seen on tv.

Fans have been hoping that the new season of American Horror Story would be set at a carnival, and they’re not soooo far off. Co-creator Ryan Murphy announced via his Twitter account that season 4 will be called Freak Show. But what does that mean exactly? EW has uncovered exclusive new details about the secretive season.
Set in Jupiter, Florida, in 1950, Freak Show finds Jessica Lange playing a German ex-pat who is managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S. Her group of “unusuals”? Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy all play performers whom Lange’s character has rescued; Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return. Freak Show’s 13 episodes will track this group as they do anything to keep their business around.
