Wisdom Tooth quesiton

I had 3/4 impacted wisdom teeth. I was given gas, but I don't even remember the procedure. I was apparently awake during the removing, but I remember "waking" up and going home. I couldn't eat ANYTHING solid for almost 3 months, I was on pain meds for 2 months and got infected twice. I lost 15 lbs, worst experience of my life. It's been almost a year and my holes are finally almost filled. Good fucking luck

they should have given you rubber band strip thingies dipped in clove oil, shoved down into the holes to keep them clear

I really have no idea what you're talking about. They gave me a bunch of gauze? but that's not what you're talking about. They also gave me a plastic syringe to squirt water in the hole's to clean them out.

mine were stitched up with dissolveable stitches, but the weird thing was I had to pull the stitches out but they came through my gums under the next remaining tooth over. man this is a bad memory, between the pain and the pulling stitches out on dec 29th after a huge dinner party I couldn't eat at

I had dissolveable stitches too, but none of my teeth had broken the surface yet, and they were all sideways, so they had to cut a particularly large hole, I guess? Anyways, only half of the hole was stitched up. Ahh yeah, also like 2 weeks after the surgery (after my perc's ran out) the worst pain I had was actually when I tried to open my mouth. It was so bad that I couldn't eat, and so I went back to make sure one of the wounds didn't get infected. Turns out that they strained my jaw from having it open so wide, and for so long. Advil took care of that pain for the most part, and it only lasted another week.

My oral surgeon kind of did a shit job as far as actually removing my wisdom teeth. They all had to be broken up, but he basically didn't remove the bottom portions of my bottom two wisdom teeth. There are still small pieces of them left that hurt a every now and then.

I'd get them taken out, but there are like two oral surgeons within a hundred miles of me. I'm not going back to the first one because he did a shit job in the first place, and the second doesn't take my insurance. My Indian dentist also won't do anything because he believes the pieces of wisdom teeth are somehow related to cancer (hint: they're not).

Pain after the surgery wasn't bad at all though. I just ate mashed potatoes and ice cream for a week and iced my face/took Percocet if I had to.

that jaw strain is exactly what happened to me, but for 3 weeks. I remember when the anaesthetic wore off in the car ride home, my mother was in the pharmacy getting my pain meds and shit and I remember screaming through my wired shut jaw in pain and slamming on the window all alone

No complications, anesthesiologist on call, barely any post-op pain, and to top it all off (for the ladies and some of the guys) he looked like he belonged on a romance novel cover.

Seriously, he was all ripped and tan, not what you'd expect when you go to see an oral surgeon.

I really have no idea what you're talking about. They gave me a bunch of gauze? but that's not what you're talking about. They also gave me a plastic syringe to squirt water in the hole's to clean them out.

I don't really know how to explain it better, I think they may have used some gauze too, but yeah clove oil has a numbing effect (after the burn >.>) so they took little strips of rubber that were like pieces of rubber bands, soaked them in clove oil and stuck em in the hole lol. They'd replace em every time I went in which was about once a week.

I was 30 when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. They were starting to shatter and I was knocking pieces off with my tongue on a daily basis.

I wasn't put fully under when they did it, but mostly because they didn't give me the right dosage of the stuff and I didn't pass out (but I didn't feel anything but happy while they were drilling). I'm sure there are alternatives to being put fully unconscious.

I was miserable for about week afterwards, I should warn you. Face swelled up and I was spitting blood for days.

The fact that we only get 2 sets of teeth is already pretty good proof. Srsly, a good designer would've looked at shark teeth, realised that was a pretty good job and repeated it.


Anyway, had 3 out of 4 pulled out separately, always at the dentist, local anesthesia+just pulling them out. One was extracted in a matter of seconds, another took half an hour.
Not really that painful, tbh, and when done separately there's none of that "puffed cheeks" thing. Bleeds a lot, though. For several days.

Fucking this man. All in all it was actually a quite enjoyable experience sans all the blood I apparently drank during the procedure. I vomited it all back up in the parking lot, ruined my white sneakers, but after that it wasn't so bad. I even ate most of my usual foods a few days later, albeit it a lot slower and in smaller portions.

I had all four of mine out at once. Some of my friends had done one side at a time so they could at least eat/chew on the other side. I said fuck it, I'll just have them all out in one sitting than deal with this shit longer than that. The last thing I remember before going under is the assistant asking how much I weighed, then asking me to count backwards from 10. I think I got to 8. I woke up with gauze in my mouth AND ONE OF MY KIDNEYS WAS GONE! Just kidding.

Worst decision I ever made was going to lunch immediately after having them out with my mom since she took me to get them out. I ordered blackened fish. It was spicy, and even worse with the open sockets where my wisdom teeth used to be. The pain was bad. I had some generic hydrocodone/acetaminophen prescribed, can't remember the exact name but shit worked. Definitely keep up with cleaning/flushing out the sockets, you don't want to get an infection back there... I didn't have any problems

Yeah he said he should be able to pull my top ones next Thursday when I go with very little trouble and under just local. Excited about that because they're the ones givin me a hard time. He said he'll send me to a surgeon for my bottom ones. I'm hoping he can at least fill my bottom ones until my wife can switch our insurance next year.
Parents offered to pay for the surgery but if I can get by without having to have them come outta pocket for it then I'd rather do that

I had a very easy surgery >_>, in, out, and then no bleeding, little to no pain, but eating was a pain in the ass, i hope your surgery goes well, just remember: lots of soft foods, and pray your surgeon doesn't suck ass

thats the one thing that makes me feel better is my surgeon. he did my moms jaw surgery, she had an underbite and looked like a fucking pirahana so he broke her top jaw and widend it and cracked her bottom jaw and pushed it back. she recovered like a champ and was done like a pro. So I trust this guy.

Same thing happened to me. My dentist said I had room for my wisdom teeth and I could keep them... but here I am at 26 and my wisdom teeth were fucking rotting in the back of my mouth. I had an absess above one of them which was so painful I couldn't even sleep. Took me a week to get an appointment with the oral surgeon my dentist recommended and by that point the absess was so bad I had to take antibiotics & vicodin for another week before he could operate. All this without health insurance was scary but in the end less expensive than expected. This was all in July and I got the other 3 removed in August but now I need braces and sinus surgery because I have a scissored bite

ANYWAY, tl;dr get your wisdom teeth removed, it costs like $200 a tooth without insurance, because oral pain is horrible.

Getting mine out tomorrow in fact. Was recommended to this guy by everyone, he's been a dentist for like 40 years. Friend just got his out last week and said the next day after he was 100%, and had too many pain meds he didn't even need. Only one of mine is even slightly impacted, like barely, but I'm getting all 4 at once. Twilight method, IV drip, nightnight, go home.

Got mine done today like a boss. Went in and he was gonna try to fill the cavity in the one instead of pulling since my inlaws are in town and didnt want me to go thru the pain while they are down. Couldnt fill it so he just pulled it, that was at 2pm, its no 1115 and I havent taken any main meds yet.

was just the top ones today, gonna go back later for the bottoms, if he even wants to take them out since they're in with plenty of room to spare.
