You know it's actually more fun to complain as a fan of a bad team, so at least I have that going for me this year

There's only so much you can make a scapegoat. Romo is a good quarterback when he's on. But almost every player is good when they're on. The problem is Romo is more off than on and it's taking a toll on the team. He lost us the Jets game, he lost us the Lions game. He won use the lol9ers game. He's giving away more games than he's winning. He's being an average QB making rookie mistakes. Is his brain cracked or just his rib? Because it's looking like both.

He's a worse version of Brett Favre. I think that pretty much sums it up as best as I can wrap my head around it.

    Easily.

He's firmly in the 2nd tier behind Brady/Rodgers/Brees/Manning/Rivers who are elite.

His stats are on par with those guys in the last few years, but he will never be in that tier with his 2 or 3 dumb INTs per year and needs some postseason success (which isn't all on him). When Romo is on he is amazingly brilliant, like the first half of the Jets/Detroit game and leading 4th quarter comebacks in week 2 and 3, but his lows are incredibly low.

There is no alternative. Did you watch the Cowboys between 1998-2006? I'd take Romo over going through that again any day. You don't just go find another QB. He's won way more games with his playmaking than he's lost while trying to make plays.

Totally false, they wouldn't have even been in a position to win those 2 games they lost without Romo. He's had 12 great quarters and 4 really bad ones. Yeah if you take just this season it's bad but over his career Romo has had way more good games than bad, 2009 was especially great.

There is no alternative this year, granted, but it is time for Jerry & Garrett to strongly consider drafting a QB next time around. Not doing that for years has greatly backfired (McGee is the only recent QB pick).

As far as just "finding a QB", it could happen. I mean, just look at Romo!

I agree they should start looking at another QB to develop. But their wagon is hitched to Romo for the next 5-6 years, their contracts are all lined up for that (Witten, Ware, Miles, Ratliff).

ftfy. And that's what makes a QB great. Consistently good starts. Not 1 here, 1 there. If you want to trade good and bad starts and still call a QB great, then you're comfortable being an 8-8 team. Not going to cut it.

And I think this is another one of your problems. You set the bar extremely low. You can't say, oh I'm happy with my QB throwing for 3 TDs a game and 3 INTs a game because a decade ago, we had QBs throwing for 1 TD and 5 INTs. Yes, Romo is better than any QB we had during that time but that doesn't make him great. Your standards are too low because of the past Cowboy failures.

Considering Romo's contract expires in two years, I'm not sure how you did that math.

He doesn't throw 3 INTs a game, he doesn't average anywhere close to that. You are just magnifying his worst games. He's averaging around ~12 a season and in his last full year he only had NINE.

Considering Romo's contract expires in two years, I'm not sure how you did that math.
Because they are going to extend it? They won't have another QB ready in 2 years. If they want to maximize their best players prime years they keep Romo.

Good thing I didn't put him in the top tier then. It wasn't much of a predicition, ESPN had them at 97% winning when it was 27-3, obviously Romo had to try really hard to give that game away.

Still don't think the Lions are amazing. First 3 wins were against some really really bad teams and Romo had to spot you 21 points to win the other. We'll see if they can make another comeback when they play against some real teams.

I'm sorry, but to say he is off more than he is on and that it's taking a toll on the team just is plain wrong. He is the reason we are in the game. He's the reason we have a 24 point lead. He's the reason we were winning vs. the Jets. His record easily shows that he is not giving away more games than he is winning. I'm not going to say that his plays weren't retarded or anything like that, but besides 8~ or so QB ahead of him, there's no way that we would be in half the games we are.

The int to seagull was a bad decision. If barbie doesn't get it, the corner (houston I think) would have gotten it. Same with the one to Laurent robinson. They were both bad decisions. The one to Witten was not a bad decision, he just couldn't get enough oompf because of the push on the line. Should he have thrown it, and should he have made a different decision? Probably.

In short, he may have lost us the jets game, but he was the only reason we were even in it. And I'd argue he's being a well above average QB making rookie mistakes. I know it's a completely different league and frequency has to do with it, but what about the bills and pats game? Similar circumstances imo.

And they will for sure extend it 3-4 more years because the Cowboys can't possibly get a QB ready in that amount of time right? You are out of your mind more than usual this morning.

Having a rookie QB ready within 2 years isn't out of the question at all. I can see Romo maybe getting a one, maybe two year extension at best. If Romo hasn't pulled his head out or we haven't found a suitable replacement at that time, this team is going to be swimming in mediocrity for the rest of our "best players prime years".

He can make a million mistakes, but if he make some positive plays, then ofcourse he's "keeping us in the game" but that doesn't take away the fact that his mistake are costing us the game. I don't know about you, but I rather win games than just be "keeping" in them. His record easily shows that he is giving away more games than he is winning. Like many Cowboy fans, you enjoy living in the past when you want to talk about his record 2 years ago. Cowboys are 2-2. Romo won one, Bailey won one. Romo lost two. Yes, he has given up more games than he has won.
