Mostly that 99% of my gear is now "dated," and all needs to be exp'd in before I transmute it, none of my gear macros work as well, mashing abilities doesn't work, etc.
The whole crafting/gathering community has to start over and I think it's going to take more than a week to situate the market with non-dated shit to re-equip yourself with.
yeah buddy... and yes... the speed difference is very noticeable.

Can somebody please PM me an uploaded patch file? I can't update on campus. ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
EDIT:
Got /![]()
Yeah stats are much more refined now and DLvL isn't as beast. I went from shooting mobs outside Uld for 3000 to about 500. <-- Also when I was testing this it felt like my TP drained much faster than before since I wasn't able to use a WS. Maybe I'm just overlooking things.
You can buy personal birds after you see the speech from the generals in each town?
Started a new char, the tutorials hold your hand pretty well BUT they are a bit too much "in your face" for me.
Definitely loving the AA animations for LNC now. Leveling felt pretty good, partying is relevant and gear matters. Chaining might be a bit too good in some areas though.
I wish I could test the low rank dungeon but no people, no can do.
Yeah TP is draining faster now, but I don't think it will matter much though once you get into a flow of chaining and linking.
Really liking the changes, combat feels so much better.
Had not yet the chance to login and play, but I saw a massive amount of QQs on official forums about the game now being "solo unfriendly" and all that crap.
I'm glad BG is back up and I can have a more valid opinion on the matter.
lol people complaining that exp comes in too fast... Meh seems fine to me. Leveling shouldn't be that much of a cockblock anyways. When it comes to leveling - it should be as accessible/easy to casuals as it is for hardcore players. Hardcore players can stay on and grind/chain mobs all day and casual players can log in every once in a while and still feel like they've made significant progress/it wont take a year to level.
If you can solo levels you can get about as much exp as before 1.18 with those specific leves. Base exp is high and the bonuses push them way high. I think soloing is fine. Partying on the other hand, is considerably faster - as it should be.
People who are complaining about "solo unfriendly" were those who went about approaching battle the same way prepatch, not realizing stats and gear are significantly more relevant than it ever was. You need to be wearing gear at optimal levels and attaching materia to new equips to see performance increases.
I was soloing quest mobs on my L.10 Archer against L.10 Bristletail marmots and at first was getting mauled, struggling to get chain 1. However, I was using all L.1 weathered gear and bow (like i did prepatch because it didn't matter). Only after tweaking my actions was I able to consistently chain 1 or 2, and had I had the right gear, would have been able to flow much better.
so did they ever fix the bullshit with arrows for archer? I remember there being no difference between the lvl 1 arrows and lvl 30 arrows. Using +1/+2 bows
I was using L1 arrows, so I can't confirm lol. Damage was definitely weaker, can test later but I'm guessing it's the same theme that stats across the board matters now for everything.
I'd rather have the leveling curve be slightly longer, but perhaps make the spiritbond raise a bit faster (although there's not much data about spiritbond growth rate yet). That's what everyone will be grinding at the cap anyway.
But at the end of the day the most important thing is that soloing is slow, and grouping is much more efficient. I'll take it. Although as long as it's hard to get people together it'll be cumbersome, but that was a given. Can't wait to hear how their action rehaul is shaping up, sounds like the game will keep changing quite a bit still if they'll be of any significance. Action rehaul > Jobs/BR > zones/servers/engine/UI(plz?).
Any lowbies on Saronia?! I need to run the level 15 dungeon tonight!! I'm level 22 or 23 and I can heal etc. I'm looking at you Kuro!
Loving the patch so far. Cobalt Hauby/Elmo is pretty kick ass. Only thing I didn't like were the preqs to get a company chocobo. 75 to 0 anima in one night.
So Dated gear = what? toss get rid of it ? or just "old stuff before the purge" still usable?
Dated gear = Gear prior to patch or made with old recpies. You can still use it and turn it into materia, but can't bind materia to dated gear.
Which reminds me. Wonder if we should make a thread in General for materia...
