Oh getting EXP points auto levels it. To my knowledge, the EXP point to Spiritbond % ratio (probably a better way to say this) has not been figured out, but shouldn't be too hard to eyeball it alone.
I like the speed of increased leveling and heres why it was a smart idea in the short term. People can catch up easier, I def see a shitload of people on after this patch, this patch was a bonafide success, I logged on 3 nights before the patch and barely anyone was on, not the case now.
They can slow leveling down a little when a level cap increase comes, making it easier for people to come back is a very smart move on their part.
Isn't that how it normally is the day after a patch? The real test is going to be whether this many people are still playing in 1-2 weeks.I like the speed of increased leveling and heres why it was a smart idea in the short term. ^ yea what he said. i log on every patch see if any friends are playing say hi to people that are still playing. But never seem to keep me after a day or two. IM deff gonna try to stick around. for 2 weeks see if i can get back into the swing of things. Atleast till BF3 comes out
So after rerolling a few days ago since I disliked my character model and didn't really remember any of the plot going on, should I find some lowbies to grind with to catch up to a friend at 19, or will it be still be pretty quick to grind it out solo? Leveling CON/THM btw
I suppose it could be different in a "regular" sized party, but I was duo'ing mobs (0 to +3 lvls above us) with my brother last night for about an hour, hour and a half, got maybe 15k exp. This was at like lvl 24-25, we only made about 15-20% progress in our spiritbond. If it is based on exp, it seems about 50k~ exp to cap it? Maybe the level of the gear has something to do with it. Some of my gear wasn't optimal rank, some was, but the progress was the same.
Edit: Oh yeah, don't know how the exp was before, because I never did it, but I took a friend through Toto-rak as my 50 lancer, he was 26 con. He was still getting exp chains despite me being too high for them and he said he was getting 300-450 exp a kill depending on how high of a chain we got. Just throwing that out there
I'm reading all kind of mixes informations at the moment tho...I like the speed of increased leveling
People writing monsters are stronger, thus Leves are harder and gives the same Exp as before (so... slower grind?)
Then there's others claiming levelling is way too fast (because of.. Exp chains I guess?) and the game is now all about parties.
I thought Yoshi's vision was to have Leves dedicated to solo players, did 1.19 turn them to "Fields of valor" levels of solo content? As in, pretty gimped compared to group exp?
Evidently Arrows matter now fantastic?
Lvl 40 archer with Dated Amorerd Calvary Bow +1 Base (DMG 34) (301 Attack power) 166 str
vs
Lvl 1-3 Wharf Rats
lvl 1 arrows 4 Base dmg = 200 dmg a shot
lvl 37 Dated White Corals 31 Base dmg = 600 dmg a shot
(did 2 shots each pretty damn easy to see they matter lol)
So arrows matter now im happy.
Your friend -could- PL you to help you catch up on mobs around your level. As far as I understand, he could literally kill the mobs for you and you'd gain exp without a penalty. Or if you want to do it the "legit" way, start shouting and making parties. There are a crapton of mobs everywhere and respawns have been lowered so partying should be much easier, or leves.
Kite shield block rate is a lot higher, at least from what I've seen so far. Need to do more testing.
I'd always gotten the impression that the lantern shields were mainly there to be an offensive buff for a non-tanking GLA rather than any real tanking weapon. The old block system certainly did make them a lot more powerful due to their long duration of Deflection/Boon/Maneuver, but with those 3 now on set timers (and can cycle all 3 to always have one up) it seems like kite shield or a scutum (once a non-dated version pops up to play with) will be the best for tanking.
So what is the deal with the official patcher? Why does that shit always take 20 hours. I'm dling the patch from another source, but it seems ridiculous that you have to.
Has anyone uploaded the patch somewhere?
Are all of the enter/exit active mode motions uncoordinated and really awkward looking as PGL? The animations are out of sync with where my weapons are half the time and the speed of the motion just looks ridiculous, I don't see what was wrong with the previous motions.
Also not being able to queue abilities is really getting on my nerves, there's already the issue of latency and the crappy servers but now I have to guess precisely at what point the previous animation is "complete" before I can do another, they should have just left the queuing aspect and forced the coming ability to automatically wait until the previous animation completed.
Edit: also, if .dat swapping is similarly possible in XIV as it was in XI (I have no idea how XIVs are) unless there's a server-side timer for a given amount of time a certain ability animation takes to complete couldn't you just change all the animation .dats to something instant (a la changing any ability to the merit point animation in XI)? Would look silly but just a thought.
Maybe it's just PGL, only played for a few hours last night but the motion to take the H2H weapons out just looks like it's been put in an awkward fast forward and the the character's body as a whole doesn't sync with it.
The upper half is in active mode while the legs are still moving as if in passive, weapons are in my hands when the animation to take them out starts but once I'm in active mode they reappear on my hips for a second or two before the lower half transitions to active mode as well.
Weird to see all the lvl 25-35 item NM's extremely camped still >.> Everyone I've been too has atleast 3-5 people camping.
