There really, really, really had to have been a more graceful way to implement the changes to gear other than making 99% of it invalid.

Only 2 pieces of my R50 gear weren't immediately rendered worthless, why could they not just have altered existing gear...

Also as people have mentioned, the as far as clunkiness goes this change was definitely a step backward, battle is really awkward especially now that things in general are a lot more difficult.

At least the leve allowance thing is a godsend, don't have to feel obligated to get leves done before the reset and miss out, not stuck doing shitty low level crafting leves to fill out your journal because there are no goddamn r30 armorer leves anywhere except once every thousand years when the planets align I can occasionally find one in Gridinia, etc.

Are there any new or current and updated conjurer weapons with healing magic potency or enhancing?

Idk, I like it better.. just take's getting used to. Queuing was all well and good until you queued something up, then something happened where you didnt want it to go off (like queuing a heal, then somebody else healed immediately or w/e) and be scrambling to get back to it to cancel. Now shit happens when you tell it to, or it doesn't if you cant. Straight forward and simple.

Fuck that noise, everything about materia is fantastic. None of your old gear is worthless, turn it into Materia. Slims down the economies bloat, and gives new gear for everybody to work towards with a built in merit system that you will never cap out on. Everything I used to wear has been converted, I'm buying other peoples old stuff to convert it, and I'm still working on getting new stuff synthed and rolling the Materia I need.

Needs to be said twice, fuck that noise.

Wasn't complaining about the materia system just that all the old gear can't be socketed and essentially all of it needs to be replaced by largely the same gear but with a slightly different name.

And for instance the fact that I it took me a while to find an iron longsword +2 at a decent price (it was ~3/4 of my gil at the time) just to see it invalidated by a huge margin by new NQ stuff, not a huge deal but it's more than a bit lame. But I feel particularly bad for people that got all of the nice gear from DH, which they can't even turn into materia.

Yeah.. Darkhold seems like it was a huge was of time now. At least it kept us busy I suppose. Nobody will ever go back to it now though haha.

Seems like they're obsoleting gear fastest than WoW ever did

I wish I could find some people to run it with for wins now that company seal rewards are currently doubled.

I think they really need to let us put materia on rare/ex gear to sustain usefulness of places like Darkhold

Eh... materia isn't quite that flexible. Each piece is severely limited to what slots it can be fitted into. Surely rare/ex gear will be a balance against that... to some extent. Not to mention the risks involved with trying to fit multiple pieces to a HQ crafted item.

    *BOOM*

Then you fall back onto your Mitts of the Lone Knight.

Btw. You get double seals for quests even now, so 600 instead of 300 for the 25 ones and I guess 2k for Dungeons.

Edit: Nope, got only 1k for Imperial Devices

There would be too many instances of someone blowin' up their rare drop because they got greedy trying to put two materia in, then pull some strings to get another one before they deserve it.

Edit: Maybe it's just now, when there's not a lot of materia flowing out there, but I still like most lvl 25-35 rare/ex stuff. I don't know if, at the moment, I couldn't be bothered by socketing a full set of lvl 25 or 30 gear only to be out of it in a couple days, depending on how quickly I was leveling.
Obviously the same doesn't apply to level 50 stuff, though.

Not when your playerbase is loudly complaining that "everyone looks the same!" and "there's no visual distinction between classes, I can't tell what I'm looking at other than their weapon!"

...except for all of your old gear that you can't turn into Materia (i.e. anything that's R/EX). That gear is now worthless.

In principle, I would agree with you if R/EX gear could be converted (doesn't need to be socketed). Until that happens, the point about worthless gear is valid.

Except everyone will end up wearing the same thing again because all the melees will want melee stats and all the mages will want mage stats.

Tying stats to colors is retarded, it's the exact opposite of letting people customize their appearance based on aesthetics.

Um... that is exactly the result that was requested!

People want to be able to look at someone and say "that's a miner" (because all miners wear the same stuff) or "that's a carpenter" (because all carpenters wear the same stuff).

How else are you supposed to interpret a request to make classes more visually distinct? When people are complaining about everyone "looking the same", there are only two ways to resolve that:

    1) more rigid class restrictions on gear (also implemented, mind you)
    2) add stat-based incentives to steer classes towards wearing certain types of gear

Why is this change a surprise? You all got what you wanted.

Except that's one thing, and the same shirt being blue for one classes and red for other's and having different stats is a little bit silly When dye's are supposed to be only for aesthetics.

Anyone attached multiple materia to an item? I had a friend try but it wouldn't let him. He has done all the quests for Materia. Is there some sort of key item obtained via other means?

You have it in the materia notes: you only get the ability to attach multiple materia after performing a number of normal melds (and I don't think we know the number yet or how do you know when you are good to go).
