You know, I was looking around on that blog last night and saw no mention of Uematsu... Is he still involved in the game's music or did he only get contracted to do the initial soundtrack and then peaced out? I've been feeling a very Hitoshi Sakimoto vibe from the 3 new grand companies' themes... which is great, but I don't know if they were in the game's data from the start, composed by Uematsu... or not.

I know, but is he still working on the expanding XIV soundtrack? It just seems odd that they would have this Square Enix Music Blog, with music staff profiles and not... and then post about new music for XIV... without one mention of Nobuo.

They most likely have multiple composers for FFXIV like they do for XIII-2.

One complaint and one question from what I've seen/read. Question: Is it still free? I'm assuming so but I want to make sure. Complaint: The video shows the 'hard mode' weapons off of Ifrit, which look awesome, but I wish they would glow ALL the time and not just when in combat. (maybe they do and the video doesn't show it). That is all. Great looking patch nonetheless.

They said weapons only glow when you're engaged. So if you put them away the glow fades as well.

And yes the game's still free, believe me when they start charging you'll hear about. Half the players will stay and half will "quit" (at least half of whom will stay).

Also the weapons range from gaudy (bow/wand/staff/sword) to outright stupid (spear/knuckles) so god knows them glowing 24/7 would just get a bit obnoxious.

Axe is the only cool one.

Chrees on the official forums was kind enough to host a direct download. It cut my dl time from 14hrs on the patcher to 15mins.

Starting the DL a little after 6pm est it took less than 30 mins, just use the client people -.-

But maybe more XIV players live in BFE than I thought.

The patcher has only ever worked for me once, downloading something like 1.18a. It sits at 0kbs/s for several minutes, then slowly climbs to about 150-200kbs/s then repeats. After attempting to use it for 30mins I was sitting at 0.4% completed. I'd much rather just avoid it all together.

Well, turns out that you actually can lol... there was a thread here on it and I followed the instructions and it works fine for me. Maybe not for everyone, but by default it should work so... yeah, it is a shitty patcher.
