If you replace the 72 pin connector in your NES it should work like brand new.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
A Link to the Past
Link's Awakening
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Oracle of Seasons & Ages
The Wind Waker

I actually own a top load NES now:

There is no play in the cartridges, so they fit in perfectly. So many games (like my copy of SMB3) that never used to work right, work flawlessly in it. And the "dog bone" controller is pretty nice, too.
I have two of them myself, heh.
Link to the Past, best, yep--so glad so many agree. Its praises have already been sufficiently sung.
On the topic of Zelda II, I too never beat it when I was younger. However, I did go back and finish it when I was in college a few years ago on the GCN disc. It's so sad though; the hike from the start of the game to the final dungeon will surely claim 1 life. Then another mid-way through the dungeon.. (and I was cheating with the dungeon overlay walking the shortest route to the end) ;/ And then when I finally killed Thunderbird, I had less than 1 block (wtfblocks) of life remaining for Dark Link. I resorted to the crouching down in the left corner constantly attacking to win. Sorta pathetic, and I admit it was probably the cheesiest way I've had to beat any game, but yes I got to see the credits roll.
I can't imagine anyone who can fight so flawlessly to actually be able to explore the final dungeon.
Has anyone ever beat Dark Link without that crouching in the left corner trick?
I really enjoyed WW- the graphics were something I had to adjust to, but when you finish Tower of the Gods, the "OMG I UNDERSTAND NOW" moment was freaking awesome. OoT and Seasons/Ages are up there for me too.
I always just spammed Din's Fire.
Really should be Link to the Past, but Wind Waker is so underrated. Fantastic fucking game, taking to the sea was not only novel but worked really well. ALTTP = WW = OOT really. OOT defined how the next iterations would all play in terms of mechanics and was awesome. Zelda will always be #2 to FF for me though; lack of optional sidequests / upgrades kind of reduced replayability for me. Sounds like SS may be remedying that though.
I don't own a DS (thinking about getting one later on and flashcart for the awesome convenience) but does running the emulators drain the battery more or are you not running it on a DS lite (which had better battery life iirc).
Also they're referring to dark link in Zelda II >_> Yes there is another dark link not just in OoT lol. Also yes there is a trick to defeating him in OoT.
Spoiler: show
I've beaten Dark Link without the crouching trick.
I... did not know there was a trick to defeating dark link in Z2. lol
I beat him legit. lol
Dark Link is simple.
Biggoron Sword, spam thrust - he can't jump on top of the bigger weapon. (OoT)
Are we talking about the dark link in the Water Temple? Because I'm confused, guy was easy as shit with normal strategies.
The only Dark Link worth talking about. The one who rapes you mercilessly and doesn't call you in the morning in Zelda II.
When i actually bother to fight him in oot, i just do this, except with 3 hearts so it doesn't take forever. Biggoron's sword/din's fire is obviously easier (and faster i believe, in the case of Biggoron's), but i almost never get either one of them, so that's out.
Flash carts do drain the battery slightly faster. They typically drop your total play time anywhere by 30 mins to an hour or so i believe.I don't own a DS (thinking about getting one later on and flashcart for the awesome convenience) but does running the emulators drain the battery more or are you not running it on a DS lite (which had better battery life iirc).
Beaten DL with straight up guerilla warfare. More fun that way even though you risk throwing your controller at the TV.
As for flash carts, yes, they drain more power since their mechanics require it to basically do what they do. Naturally, some games will also drain more power depending on how graphically intense they are or maybe how many sounds they put out.
At first I thought it was funny when people were confusing the two and now I'm confused on who most people are talking about when they say the beat it <_<
