IT WAS ME. THX 4 THE CAMERA. I DO PHOTOGRAPHY
Completely unrelated but,
anybody in the market for a nice Asus monitor? Hardly used.
problem? :D
Sounds like an inside job!
Rich you might be able to get some of the value if you sue him if nothing else works out (ie, can't find who took your shit/roommate is a ree-ree and says nothing). More than likely the judge won't get you full value because you can't prove the roommate took them (and probably didn't), but they might give you a partial amount considering it was his fault in the first place.
Also, I agree with others, what you can do is wait for him to come back, explain it, try to get him to pay to replace the stuff. If he's hesitant, threaten to sue. If he's got mommy and daddy paying for his shit he'll more likely pay for everything rather than dealing with them finding out the whole situation.
I wish you the best of luck.![]()
Sorry to hear that, have choppers fly over your house, seems to work for us. Have had our neighbors on our left and our right be robbed, and two houses to the left has been robbed too, all in the past 6 months, but we leave our door unlocked and sometimes when my uncle is piss drunk he leaves the front door wide open all night and we've never been robbed.
Over the past 9 years though, my uncle has had cop cars lined up the street at least 5 times and then the time w/ the helicopters when he was growing weed here. People around here don't fuck with us, lol
Something possibly worth thinking about...
You said you were out from 7pm til like 2am... kind of a long time, and obviously more than enough time to make off with your stuff.
Where did you go, and who knew you were going to be gone for several hours?
I know if I was gonna rob a guy, I'd want to know for certain he's not there, no one else is there, and no one is going to be there for quite a while.
I can't give any kind of robbery advice, so can only offer my condolences. It's just "stuff", but the feeling of being broken into is so much worse than the value of whatever was taken. However, I wanted to comment on the above quote.
No matter what your opinion is of drugs and drug use, DO NOT EVER tolerate them in housing provided by a university. No matter how much of a nice guy you are, if your roommate gets busted, you are busted. No questions asked. I would strongly, strongly recommend informing the police and campus housing as to what has been going on IN FULL. It is WAY better to inform them now then try and explain to them later. This guy sounds like a monumental jackass anyway, but that doesn't matter. Chillest dude in the world gets caught with drugs in your dorm? Guess what, you could potentially be throwing away your education so that you don't look "mean". Good on you for not buying them beer, either.
^
It's a good idea to make a list of people that knew you would be gone for the night. Sadly, every time myself or someone I know has been robbed, it was an acquaintance.
Hopefully that's not the case, but I'd make the list while it's still fresh in your mind just in case.
Sorry bro. Sucks massive donkey balls.
What Isla said 100%..Sorta not the same, but my cousin couldn't get into her senior prom cuz the guys in her limo were drinking. Schools come down hard on that shit. Zero tolerance is the name of the game. Don't let yourself get caught even if you're not guilty. Guilty by association is a mother fucker
No worries Rich BG's got your back. We'll send BG's finest to get your stuff back:

Hope you get your stuff back~
its got cum stains on it, be careful brah. jessica abla has been the pinnacle of my masturbation sessions since i was 11 and saw her on that god awful flipper show
and this is what i might have to resort to. i've asked my prior bosses from my last job on legal advice, and they need to look at my housing contract and case number/police report. i did sign a waiver regarding insurance and theft, but i believe it was through the negligence of my own doing. aka: i lost my own key and someone took my shit, im SOL. this is not a dorm, but an apartment. the rules are are very abstract in these situations and i think i might be in the clear. as long as i show proof that i wasnt held accountable for the lost key, and show that the lock was faulty (which i can do thorough the documentation of eye witnesses and my RA who was there when the locksmith arrived to rep it), i should be ok for the reimbursement of my things through either the school or Crook's parents. .... just as long as i make an accurate list of its value. which sucks. i told them my ps3 was worth like 200 bucks. that shit collects dust and should've said 250 lol.
im still waiting for him to get home. im really curious how he's going to get in. is he gonna knock? or use a key? and if he does use the key, than its the SAME fucking key the burglars used. and if he knocks, he still fucked me over by not reporting it lost when didnt have it anymore. that fucking idiot.
i look big and sexy and all muscley-armed. but im actually a humungous fucking nerd lol. i dont socialize too much and only 4 ppl have been in my room. my 2 best friends who are nerds like me, and played in a LAN party together while we were out, my roomate and a girl i had over who has been in kingsport for 2-3 weeks now since she goes to northeast state. i never lend my card out to anyone. EVER. if anyone needs to use my washer and dryer, im home with them. if they need to cook, im home with them. if they need to use my interwebs, im here. im incredibly secure, and good about not trusting people lol
however, my roommate has left random people in the house he only met THAT day, to do the same while he went out to score some drugs. he was out for hours at a time. i would walk outside to the kitchen and see white kids with stinky ass dreadlock hair stealing steaks i had marinating and putting them on my george foreman grill and a cig in their mouth. im about as patient as you can get. but there are times where the best thing i can do is just walk away lol. i should've been more frank with him and let him have it. but 19 year old kids are immature, man.
however, he always DOES ask what im doing for the weekend, despite our none existent relationship. im usually always home, so whoever broke in was watching me, or stood outside ringing the doorbell for 10 min making sure no one answered.
like i said, the hardest part about all this is the waiting. i know we have those guys on camera, hoodies or not. and i know his ID key will come up with the question of "who came in my door between 7-1?" dont forget. all the id's/times/etc are stored in the database, so they can pull that up. they'll see it wasnt my card or a random RA's. and if it was, it would make things easier to get my stuff back lol. im sure ETSU would settle for situations like this than to actually pursue it in court all of the fault of a random RA, which i highly doubt it was anyway
omni: they are my only hope
@CS: thanks for the support!
Spoiler: show
TURF WAR!
All I can say is best of luck. My door was left open 24/7 my second year. We where sorta the center of the dorm room. Anyone came and went whenever they wanted. Never had shit stolen from us(outside one coat that showed back up a week later)
How? crazy big dude was out sweet-mate and my roommate had a collection of knives that could fill a dorm room. Oh ya, get some cheap ass video camera's installed too. Might of had something to do with that as well.
really? how much would it cost to invest in that? maybe i can have it streamed? but couldn't they just ... unplug it as well? lol
i never really got into this, but now im wishing i had been
either way. the only thing im worried about atm is my contract regarding the insurance. the school is not held accountable for stolen/broken goods if its my fault, i believe. however, i locked my door, they picked at it, the lock smith said it was faulty to begin with which is not acceptable. 600/month and me locking my door every time i step out was a waste of time if i knew this lock could've been broken into with a fucking can opener, let alone butcher knife they used from the kitchen. ANNNDD my roommate a. lost his key and didnt report it, some dudes found it, googled his name and found out where he lived and bingo or b. he lent it to some assholes he trusted, they broke in and bingo.
i never really sued anyone, and despite me working as a damn paralegal for 2 years, i dont know the proper procedure of any of this since all i did was PIP paperwork and court documentation lol. and i wouldnt know who was at MORE fault. the school, Crook or both
Dumb question, but what does the lock look like? If someone could use something else like you said they could how would they go about doing it?
Out system was not all that cheap, think it was around $500 for 4(5 of us split it); one for each of our rooms and two for the main area(one pointed at the door) one for the rest of the room. where ever you plan to have the video tapes(hard drive/computer? now lol) has to be locked at all times. Our area was the crazy buff dudes room.
The one we bought had wires so the RA was a little pissed at first and said it was a fire hazard.
the main lock to get in our room hs no turn key holes, whatsoever. the only way to get in is through 3 id's. the 2 student id's that live there, and the RA. its constantly monitored, so you can see who entered at what time, etc. the door is more than sealed and it would take hours to try to break in without busting the door open. cameras are outside, so i doubt they would want to spend hours being conspicuous about picking a lock. they took Crook's new or old key and let themselves in.
however, my door to my room is your standard lock you'd find at like... lowe's or home depot for like 15 bucks. it kind of sucks. and it was faulty to begin with. with its fully locked, its a bitch to break into, but its not full proof. however, since it WAS faulty, you could just pluck it open with a knife and there you go. there were scrape marks from the knife on my door, and they left the butcher knife on my PC desk. it's just a standard bolt. no deadbolt or anything fancy.
@dejet: that's pretty smart man. ill def consider something like that in the future
Hmm I see. Guess that is a bit of a problem, and I'll assume the thief(s) took the knife with them.
Do you know if the card reader would register your roommate's old or new card key differently or not?
If a card's lost, they'd probably reprogram or issue new ones. Basically an old card shouldn't work if everything had been done properly.
