Just read the thread, dude I am so sorry to hear about that. I had a similar experience where I knew who stole my stuff, but I had no serial numbers and no "hard evidence" (Apparently the testimonials of 3-4 people wasn't enough), so I never got anything back. Hopefully your case will go differently.

Side note: The guy who stole my shit ran out of gas about a half mile from my house, a couple years later. I drove him to the gas station, bought him five bucks of gas, and took him back to his car. He was incredibly sheepish the entire time, but fuck yeah good karma for me!

I'm going to say that there's not really anything that you can do in this case, unless you just beat the shit out of your roommate. Police are 100% useless in these situations. When a bunch of my bags were stolen from my work truck at a hotel parking lot, with the guy cought on campera, the only thing they could offer me was that they'll look if anything turns up at the pawn shops. A month later, the donut-laden fuck calls me and tells me they didn't find any leads so the case was closed.

I'm going to ditto this - you'd be very surprised how things from the internet can filter back into the real world. You don't know who's reading this, I cannot offer legal advice but I can say that you don't know who from here will forward this on simply because they are assholes and can. There's enough information in this thread for someone to forward it to your school, or the local police for instance. You may want to go edit out the threats, or have this whole thing taken out of general.
