You disagree, fine, but will you will disagree with anything because you actually love the RNG, Apelila and me already pointed this out. You're one of the Salv masochists, good for you.
Yeah yeah, with your system no duping would have happened. I'm sure.

I already pointed out why I disagree (which had nothing to do with love or rainbows or ponies, one might add), and I can see why you disagree with me too. To you it must be the lesser evil. But to most of us, the RNG is decent enough for us to know that we won't go 1/200 and as such don't need that magical threshold somewhere up there in the hundreds to comfort us while making the already low drop rate even worse.

went 1/200, both multiple times, I still hate the RNG
You do??? I couldn't have guessed! But yes, it really tells me a lot that you compare Magians to Salvage. I like me some good drop rates too, which is the equivalent of Magian in this case, and as such not even close to Salvage in any shape or form.

I just see people trying to make a point to you when you've already said you like what they are hating.
Their point is that they hate the system and would like "alternatives" better, and my point is that their wonderland isn't so rosey after all. It's pretty simple but as always the hivemind makes sure that nobody will learn anything from this. Instead hurrdurr hyan be trollan'. That's the easy way out.

I never claimed that with my system duping would have never happened, because shit droprate+shittier droprate from my system still makes shit droprate, the group you love to marginalize would actually be less pissed though in getting their shit done.

And when it comes to comparing Magians to Salv: doing 2k trials for relic buffs was a "good droprate"? Ok. Or Emp trials pre-nerf to hell to make NM's pop every 15mins? Magians actually got the buff hammer, while Salv only got the banhammer until the gear was outclassed by AF3, then they upped your shit RNG.

Why did you mention it then? As a jab at me? That sounds kinda silly though, but okay!

And yes, upgrading relic is considerably easier than actually obtaining it, plus you get much more benefit out of doing it. That's the theme of Magians. Everything is faster to complete than their previous counterparts. Emps are easier than Mythics and Relics. AF3 is faster dealt with than Salvage.

AS SUCH when it comes to RNG in this kind of environment the drop rates would have been significantly better. No more masochism. But still, each time could be the one! Yes, I find that to be a motivational factor (because it is, no matter how much people would like to deny it), especially when the drop rate is good. Like it would have been if Salvage was introduced in the Abyssea era.

Emps easier when the pop timer for Gukamatz was 1 hour+? Ok. I was talking about pre-nerfs.

How shit is after nerf wasn't taken in to account or I would have taken Salv's new droprate into account too. Same shit, less annoyance.

Adjusting shit early after release means an unintended flaw in the original design. Adjusting shit 5 years after release means the event has fulfilled its duty in stalling our progress/or something has come to replace it.

The adjustment of Magian trials was shortly after the fiasco of FFXIV, when SE actually started listening to people. Unintended flaw my ass, they just listened for once to shit people bitch about for years for similar events.

I don't know about you but I'm happier to go to an event when there's a chance I might get something VS knowing I probably wont, and that I'll have to spend hours refarming the points/xp I put into it as an added 'bonus'

Well, now you're diving right into the bullshit zone again. But it was fun while it lasted.

It's a case of getting a little bit of your weapon every time you go in VS getting it all at once when it drops. Sure you always get that bit but that's all you'll ever get until you hit the magical threshold. That's what work feels like. "47 more runs to go....not more...not less.............sigh." The only incentive to go back in is to go 4/50.

Then again, most of you are basing this off the magical "what if" wonderland of FF versus XI where you think you might be happier if things were this way (the way that can be seen through rose-colored glasses) and not the current way (which you can see quite clearly, both pros and cons alike). Then you can compare these different ways by looking at the systems in the game (RNG vs. points) that have completely different progression curves and as such aren't even comparable.

SE doesn't have the trackrecord for this to be bullshit, sorry, nice try.

To be clear my "what if FF wonderland" is nothing from what I am posting in this topic. SE won't invest that much time, effort and money to make it worth a fuck. And rightfully so, game is dying, I wouldn't invest more than needed either. They have a better chance polishing the FFXIV turd.

The game has been dying forever. New games will always come along to replace old ones. Except for 14 Lol what a colossal failure.

I'm not including you here, because you seem to be one of the only people who understand most of the consequences.

The whole year 2010 is against SE's track record. Implying that some bullshit coincidence made them adjust the game in a way that, unsurprisingly, fits the adjustments preceding it is retarded and only someone so cynical about the past that he can't even think straight on the subject anymore would make that sort of thing up.

i quite like the bit by bit progress thing. if you're doing things in the long run then it makes more sense than the whole luck lottery chance thing.

it certainly means you won't get an unexpected windfall and rewards people for being consistent.

That's what was so good about the Mythic quest system actually. Everything could easily be done as long as you are willing to commit in the long run. everything is a matter of time. The only thing that went against that vein was the ZNM trophies which they finally rectified.

Now the only problem is that the events aren't as popular as they should be and that Alexandrite is a feature of the worst of both systems. firstly because its a huge quota requirement, secondly because it doesn't have a particularly stable droprate, and finally because you simply cannot rely on farming everything by yourself to meet the requirement within a decent timeframe (i'm using a year as a benchmark). You're gonna have to pull a bunch of people down with you.
But that is true for all gil item requirements to a certain extent.

Nope! I'm not championing that system.Or any system - please reread - I said every time I go to an event there's a chance that I think I will VS I'm resigned to the fact that I likely will not. I said nothing about the utility, progress, or basis of said system. I would prefer to gain a positive outcome for my time invested VS a loss of time invested and future time investment.
In short: less grind. FFXI is moving towards this. I only entered this argument to highlight your stance that people are ignoring: you enjoy the RNG. Good for you, I know many people never complained about the system just that this seemed very true to it:
    http://imgs.xkcd.com/comics/random_number.png

I don't agree with you that the system is fair or balanced. I want to log on every day knowing I'll get something done. I cannot really fathom why you would LIKE said system but as I've said before to each their own.
We can all go on and on about how the rewards for the systems justify the means or the past or any amount of waxing rhetoric, the game isn't going back to what it was. This whole discussion was spawned by that letter, which reads almost as arrogant as past dev team. Hence, the nerd rage.

You guys are such a bunch of pathetic losers. What makes you think SE really care about your opinion on how the game should be run? The old FFXI brought in way more cash than abyssea ever would. They only started to "listen" after FFXIV flopped to give a false impression that improvement is on the way so that ppl will continue to play the game.

SE already lay out future plan for FFXI. If you are still playing despite knowing exactly what is coming then they've already got your money, there is no reason for them to waste more resource on FFXI because of a small group of obsessive players who are too afraid to let go of a dying game.
