But in the end, we're all gimps because Pchan already had his 95 the day it came out~

But really, 1500 is so lame it's not even funny. 150-500 would be fine with me, but please raise the droprate D:

Having it at 1,500 seems like it is just going to draw RMT farmers back to the game to supply gil now that it is worth something again.

Personally, I think that Heavy Metal Plates and Heavy Metal Pouches should have been Exclusive (can send within PoL account) with a requirement of 150. This way they force people to go outside of Abyssea to do the new content if they want their shinies. If people don't want to do the new content, then they obviously don't their shinies that badly. As it stands, I cannot see a way that a person would be able to farm the necessary plates by him/herself, meaning that they are going to have to resort to buying them, meaning that the temptation to buy gil is going to creep in to the game again. And personally, I was happy that it was no longer a common thing.

I haven't checked the official forums recently, but is there a backlash thread of proportions epic enough yet that the developers will be forced to respond (a la Click and Buy debacle)?

No, it's mostly filled with arguing against one "lol, my relic was crap for two updates so you guys deserve this" SE fanboy. Trying to explain why the requirement is unreasonable, etc. Nothing will come of it.

If it stays at 1500 I prolley wont upgrade when I can sell the plates and do a full relic. I think 150 is fine unless the weapons have hidden stats.

Larger boosts or scaled ftp for relics would have been fine, but at the end of the day this game has only a couple years left and I don't really see the point of changing AoE farming in Dyna or keeping a 30k alex requirement of 1500 plates. It still takes skill/dedication to farm currency quickly, it still takes buying gil to get alex and plates still (for now) drop from T3 VWNMs. You aren't going to walk into any of these requirements and get lucky; you're going to need to work for them all.

Two years? Nah, game still has many years left in it. Last official subscriber count in 2010 had something like 350,000 subscriptions. Even if that has decreased to 200,000 in the interim, that's still a healthy number for an 8-9 year old game. Many MMO's continue with numbers much lower than that, and some keep servers open with < 5,000 (Dark Age of Camelot). There were numbers tossed around earlier this year that FFXIV itself only had 30,000+ people logging in, so I doubt FFXI's servers are shutting down anytime soon.

What will that number be @99 in six months when there is no new content aside from VW and revamps? I'm not arguing subscribers, I'm saying that I don't see SE continuing to fund this game once it is no longer profitable for them to do so. For example, when funding XIV + funding XI at the same time can no longer function without additional monetary input I don't see them continuing to support. They could do a number of things to counteract like charging for XIV prematurely, increasing XI subscription fees, stop funding XIV from XI's pool etcetc. The first two I don't think would go over without a lot of outcry similar to what happened with payment options changing.

Edit: The second part of your argument touches on something similar to "Well, XI is a better game because more people play it and it's doing better than many MMO's of similar age". Again, that's great but SE has made it fairly clear they want nothing to do with XI and I think that comes down to "we have to be innovative" as one of their sort of foundation principles at Square. I am in complete agreement that this game needs both additional expansions, better DEV support, everything; if XI got everything it needed from the backside at Square I wouldn't say what I'm saying insofar as reducing requirements (aside from plates, as I would still feel that's high) because I'd have confidence the game was going to be around for a decent amount of time.

I used to think that way too, and then I got sick of linkshells and while I do put together shout groups they tend to be worse, but at least they have a short life.

I am happy soling, duoing, trioing, or maybe having four at the most. That is something that was opened up in the past 2ish years and has been encouraged. So to see a weapon path like that has been like that suddenly go "VW GUIZ GETZ PPLZ" is a bit annoying and no "it is an MMO...too bad" is not any sort of valid reasoning or position.

This is not me QQing I can't solo it. It is me being upset I suddenly can't low man it and I have the option of getting a lolLS or LOLWHATSVOIDWATCHGUIZCANIMAKEMONEYZshoutgroupHOLYF UCKDIDWEJUSTPROCTHATOUTSIDEOFABYSSEA?!. .

At least we agree (along with most) that 1500 is just stupid though. Same with the WoE adjustment and weapons, take a good change and fuck the drops.

ITT: People that don't know shit about T3 Zilart VW.

You can get anywhere from 10-30+ plates off a t3 VW and you guys think 1500 plates is unfair. Go kill Uptala and tell me how hard that guy is and tell me if you still think 1500 is unfair. The fight takes all of like ... 15 minutes if that.

And this is why I stated that the plates should be exclusive. This way people would have to go do it themselves. You should love that because it forces people to do the content.

Semi-zerg style Qilin is even faster if you have someone who can handle the adds as they pop since he doesn't have Uptala's dumb PDT-50% with the constant Yaksha Stance. I think we were getting like 5-8 minutes a kill on average.

Haven't seen anything but NQ dagger so far. HQ weapon drop rate is down there with (or even worse than) the bodies. Even the NQ weapon drop rates are low, I think the NQ weapon drop rate is lower than either of the two unique pieces of gear that each of the Zilart T3s drop.

That being said, the motivation to spam is there (with heavy metal pouches), so I'm sure we will see more HQ weapons in the long run than we saw bodies from city T4s (or even Jeuno T3s since those are just single plates). There's a report about the HQ sword on the Voidwatch discussion forum, and the TP drain sounds broken-amazing. Says the guy got like 70 TP drain off one attack round, idk wtf.

I voted 300, I don't even own an emp, I also think they could add them to salvage chariots to get salvage rolling again.

no, not having them exclusive makes them even easier to get >_> that way that they can be shared with LS mates that actually want to upgrade their weapons all while looking for people selling them

is 10-30 plates/kill an average expected outcome? i haven't done a lot of VW yet but from what i've read so far that's not exactly what folks are seeing drop. 10-30/kill would make it 150-50 fights per weapon which wouldn't be too horrid aside from the whole needing an ally to do so problem.

75 runs (20/run) for an LS of 12-18 people to get 1xEmpyrean 1500xHeavy Metal Plates over the course of 12-13 runs (75 runs/6 per event @3h per event) means 2 weeks straight VW for one persons weapon.

Factoring in that most LS's don't do VW alone and do other farming to better their other members who may not have Empyreans/other gear if you cut that down to 3 runs a week it becomes 4-5 weeks for one Empyrean Weapon and that's only spamming T3's.

2 runs a week becomes 6-7 weeks of farming for one weapon. 2-3 events a week dedicated to getting one person gear.

Though you're trolling as usual so sort of an irrelevant argument.
