Everyone will have all the shit they need long before one person finishes 1500 plates. If not by the end of the first guy, then the second. There will come a point where you're gridning for nothing but metal plates, and the people 20th in line are not going to wait (and the people first in line who got their shit are going to leave.)

Yeah, but at least by then you will have something to show for it. There are 3 NMs to spam out so by the time you're capped on items I'm sure you will be done. I'm sure there won't be people with several 95 empyreans flying around either. I know they will end up lowering the requirement from 1500, everyone is bitching too hard but it is still not that bad. Its probably as bad as upgrading 2 empyrean harps from souls to azdajas. While its a lot harder, its still not impossible.

Who the hell is gonna farm VW and give all their plates to one person? There are shells with only 1 empy in them these days? For one person to get 1500 would take years. It shouldn't be easier to farm a relic than to upgrade an empy to 95 imho, that's just stupid.
After 3 weeks I've managed to collect 29/1500, and that's only from my lucky 10 and 15 pouches. 150 is more than fine for the rate we are getting them.

Even under the pretense of the completely unrealistic expectations you've suggested, you would have to spam T3 VNM nearly a thousand times for everybody to finish a single weapon. The new Voidwatcher gear is mostly mediocre, it's barely an incentive at all, and you would definitely have all of it long before your group was finished anyways.

It's another cop out for good game design. It's quite clear from even just this poll that the majority of people don't like the idea of a huge grind. It's not enjoyable for most players, which is what the game should aim to be.

JPs will. There will be a 95 emp in October, wouldn't be surprised if it came from Cerberus. We have one JP player in my LS, she has 30+ Plates and 5 emps, she tried to give all the plates to our Sack as a gift. Its a JP game and they play with a different perspective.

Ever since he started Voidwatch he's been posting here like he's the king of difficult content and trying to talk down to people, going as far as to call people like Taint morons who live in Abyssea(while Taint is one of the few NA people on Cerb who actually successfully farmed the previous VW content). Just ignore the dipshit.

That said, assuming current drop rates, 150-300 would be fine honestly. Most groups can farm that by doing VW often but it will still take a little while. Relics are difficult to reach 75 due to gil/time constraints but noticeably easier to hit cap with, Empy's have so far proven to be the opposite. While 1500 is insane, it shouldn't be easy enough that someone can shout group it like alot do with 85 empy's. Acquiring plates shouldn't be compared in difficulty to acquiring normal empy items since you need a group of 12+, 18 really if you want to cover red.

The only real restriction that I can see is the fact that you would have people dumping a shitload of voiddust.

The price of Voiddust has been steadily climbing on Fenrir since the update. Currently hovering around 30k with 50 in stock on the AH. That's a hell of a lot of gil for one campaign, you can get 4 Voiddusts worth of AN in like 15-20 minutes.
