Who do you think will be the cinderella team in the east and west this year.

West I'm saying Edmonton ON THE CONDITION that RNH stays up in the NHL. When I watch that team, I see a team that doesn't know when to quit and doesn't know that it should lay down for bigger teams for another year or two. Very reminiscient of the Penguins 3-4 years ago. Khabibulin playing well too so far.

East I'm saying Toronto ON THE CONDITION that Reimer gets back within a month and the team plays at least .500 hockey til then. I don't think they'll maintain their division lead, but I think they'll be a 7 or 8 seed this season after I've seen their performance through 10+ games now.

For the East I'm going to say Toronto. I don't think they'll be able to continue the run their on now but they should still be in contention right to the end. First round match up of Toronto vs Washington would be hilarious. Toronto fans freaking out because they'd forgotten hockey is still going on in May. Washington fans freaking out because if they lose to the Maple Leafs....

I was trying to make it sound light-hearted but I honestly believe that's how it's going to be.

East I'll go Winnipeg. The Southeast is almost always assumed to shake out Caps, Bolts, Canes, other, but Tampa and Carolina have looked shaky early on, and I think there's a ton of points to be picked up with the unbalanced schedule. I know Florida's looked good early on, but I'm not buying Theodore/Markstrom in net and Versteeg and Weiss keeping this up. I think the Jets have some great depth and if Pavelec can stop shitting the bed, they'll go an a few runs during the softer parts of their schedule and be the toast of Canada.

For the West, I'm buying Dallas's hot start. With all the Brad Richards woe-is-me talk, their biggest offseason move was canning Marc Crawford. Gulutzan deserves some credit, and he'll have a great chance to test his new system with a four game swing in Carolina, Washington, and Pittsburgh and Detroit back-to-back in early November. If they can pick up five or six points, look out. Their top six forwards and four D-men stack up pretty damn well with anyone, and while depth and defensive lapses might be a concern, I think Lehtonen's up to the task of bailing them out enough to sneak into the playoffs.

only 72+ games to go, think I'll hold off on predictions. Obviously Edmonton is on the right track to rebuilding that team though. Roman Hamrlik scored a goal and had an assist the day after RNH was born btw.

Expected, anticipated, but now official - RNH is playing game #10 with the Oilers tonight.

Let's see if RNH/Hall/Ebs can keep it up for 82 games. Well, Taylor and Jordan should have no prob, but I guess we'll see how Ryan holds up for a full NHL schedule.
Horcoff and Khabi are playing like 2 totally different versions of themselves this year - here's hoping that lasts.
All of this is being done without Alice too. Funny how for years we were brainwashed that he was our ghetto Datsyuk, and now when he comes back, he might see 2nd line ice-time... maybe.
If it was up to me, it'd be:
Hall-RNH-Eberle
Smyth-Horcoff-Jones
Paajarvi-Gagner-Hemsky
as the top 3 lines.
No sense in fucking up the chemistry of what's working so far just because Hemsky will be back for 2 shifts before DiPietroing himself again
