I dunno if anyone cares but it seems like the Flames stole one against St. Louis (I only caught the highlights after work, but ALL of the highlights save for the Flame goals were in the Calgary zone). 3-1 win while being out-shot something like 28-18. Kipper pulled a Kipper and got it for us. Also our 4th line scored 2 goals with the third being an empty netter.
So far I've been a little disappointed with the Blues. I fully expected them to be the sleeper team this year to beat. They have a great supporting cast with a very solid young core. I suppose the addition of David Perron will be fully welcomed when he's healthy, but I for sure thought they would have been off to a better start than this.
Unrelated to hockey, but since I know Sep and Chips post here and were making "fat" jokes:

seriously, no contest, at all.
I shit my pants just looking at that pic.
Poutine looks absolutely disgusting in the best way possible.
I was revolted the first time I saw it...and then I tried it![]()
One of my best friends is big into St. Louis these last couple years. He has went out and bought himself a jersey and for some reason or another (I honestly have no idea how he picks his teams sometimes >_>) choose the Blues as his team. He honestly believes that they'll be a cup contender and while I don't agree with that, I do agree with you on them being a much stronger than expected team this year. A definite slow start for em, but who knows, maybe they'll pick it up.
Jordan Staal is now hurt and won't be playing tonight... WHAT THE FUCK PITTSBURGH CENTERS.
The legend of Cardboard Orpik.

Pens have been without Crosby and Malkin for an extended period and now Staal... and they still win five in a row. The Leafs are 4-0-1 on home ice so far... can we hold?
In Leafland:
-Reimer is apparently set to start against Ottawa, but will miss tonight as well. Kessel left practice early due to "banged-up"itis but will play tonight. Armstrong still out indefinitely with ankle injury.
-Phaneuf and Letang are tied for third in Dman points, 9 for each.
-Pens have a top-notch PK so far, Toronto not so much.
-The Leafs lead all Canadian teams so far with 13 points. What's really odd is, second place is the Just-Beat-the-Caps Edmonton Oilers (What?). Third place is the Vancouver Can... NO ITS NOT IT'S THE OTTAWA SENATORS. Vancouver sits in 4th.
Habs 5th, Flames 6th, Jets 7th. <- Too bad these rankings don't mean jack, all three of these teams are in the NHL basement.
First of all, what the fuck. Second, how long does this last? Probably just early in the season, we'll see after November.
-Oddly, as much fanfare as Kessel has received lately, he's one of three Leafs with Point-Per-Game pace. Joffrey Lupul has 10 points so far, and Dion Phaneuf has nine in 9. While you can make the case for Phaneuf, Joffrey Lupul is supposed to be injured, useless, and a cap hit until 2012 when we reach a conditional pick. So far, so comeback.
-Also positive from the Rangers game was Komisarek's +2. With 20min of ice time, that's good news.
Without them last year Coach Disco got the whole team to buy into a wholesale system change midway through the season. They still managed to get over 100 points when everyone thought they would collapse. It's that kind of thinking that I think most teams are still stuck in. No Crosby/Malkin = Easier Game. The Pens are no shrinking violets. With Fleury in net any game is within reach. Their PK is tops in the league again and they lead the league in shorthanded goals(or did the last time I looked.) Even the guys they bring up from Wilkes Barre/Scranton immediately fit right in because the Baby Pens play the exact same system the big team does. The Pens are a ridiculously strong team. With everyone healthy they could be an absolutely dominating team. Unfortunately that is still quite a ways off.Pens have been without Crosby and Malkin for an extended period and now Staal... and they still win five in a row.
I think the thing that people had failed to realize before was that Crosby was clearly super-overrated and pretty expendable.
I use to think Vancouver was cursed for injuries, especially on D. But MAN pens take it to another level, their IR rolls deep.
The Pens IR could probably beat the Jets
Actually the Oilers have 14 points. Though one extra game played.-The Leafs lead all Canadian teams so far with 13 points. What's really odd is, second place is the Just-Beat-the-Caps Edmonton Oilers (What?). Third place is the Vancouver Can... NO ITS NOT IT'S THE OTTAWA SENATORS. Vancouver sits in 4th.
Canadiowned.
I'm sure Sep would agree, the last 2 - 3 years have been the worst I've ever seen for the Pens.I use to think Vancouver was cursed for injuries, especially on D. But MAN pens take it to another level, their IR rolls deep.
You forgot to account for the planetary alignment of Mars affecting the standings whereby teams with extra games are discounted.
