Wow, that was a beatdown. Sorry, I saw the game at a friends house.

Thoughts:
- We love to play down to a team's level

And the Pond Hockey Tactics that were lulzy to watch against Columbus in the 3rd do not fly against a team that can aggressively check and pursue.

It’s really hard to draw proper conclusions from a beatdown, because everybody’s having a bad night and after you’re down by a huge margin, well everybody struggles with focus when you’re getting cleaned out. Wouldn’t you?

That said, this could be what we need to wake up.

We should really look at this game versus the next game (FLA) and grade the rebound, not the catastrophe. See who woke up and who’s still struggling.

-FAN590 recap guy seems super excited to point out Kessel is slumping, with 4 games with no goals (and Seeeeguin got a haaaaaaatty). Not counting the two beauty assists he picked up over those games, or his current focus to use his incredible speed defensively, and wreck havoc on the backcheck and cycle.

Phil Kessel is not in a slump yet, nor do I really care if he is, as he's well over pace this early. Goals come and go, but as long as you’re not deadweight – you get looks because you help out defensively, you grab assists, you get dirty – the goals will come back, and the team isn’t as hurt for your absence.

-Tim Connolly practically just got here, but I saw this coming. Mr. Glass Man didn’t play very well against a hard checking team? No way bro.

Give him time.

-The only one who’s getting some serious bad press in Toronto is Cody Franson. No one told him Toronto isn’t Nashville when he got here, and that attempt to call out Wilson for ice time? More like who are you? It certainly raised the stakes. Too bad he’s started cold, because now I’m watching him like a hawk and there’s reason to get angry. Fun Fact: Schenn playing bad is better than this.

Still, he came with Lombardi, and we got something out of Brett Lebda. Brian Burke can polish turds.

Idk I’m sad we lost but not so sad we got blown out. The team’s better than this, and a good blowout brings us down to earth, gets us hungry. We have a goal now to beat Boston, and we’ll have to improve to do it.

Nope. At some point you have to start rooting for the team you know is gonna make the POs. I don't root against the Sharks anymore for that reason, would rather them take points from everyone else since there's no way they'll be on the bubble.

I don't watch the pens a whole lot but as skilled as Letang and Malkin are, they have a hard time handling that puck a lot.

Wow, Stoll might be suspended.... FSN pittsburgh hasn't shown a good slow-mo but that looked like a clear principal point of contact headshot and Sullivan didn't even have the puck... refs called nothing on like the 10 last shouldve-been-penalties. Only thing they've called right is Letang tripping Richards for a penalty shot and no goal on the high stick. Infraction wise, wow, my post earlier still stands - VERY poorly called game.
