Boudreau isn't entirely to blame for the lack of success in the playoffs for the Caps. Semin & Ovechkin are selfish players. Ovechkin has improved this season by being a better 2-way player. Semin just doesn't give a fuck, he's in it for the money. I don't wanna stereotype modern Russian players, but it just seems that way. Except for Eatsyuk, who i feel sorry for every Olympics. Also maybe if Mike Green actually decided to defend rather then be a forward that may have helped a bit.

Boudreau is an older-school style of coach. Lots of yelling and abit less lovey dovey. However he's still a student of the game. Whichever team picks him up will benefit from his experience. A stupid move by the Caps, could have waited till the end of the season.

Heard on the radio they're not announcing untill the Habs land in Cali, which could hint to a suspension. If thats the case, what have we deduced:
1-running someones head into a stanchion is ok, but a shoulder to shoulder/head hit when the player has their head down is not.
2-bowling a goaltender over with both fists in their face is ok.

Tippett, Bylsma, etc - Make something amazing out of nothing.

Tank a couple years, get 4 straight top-5 picks...but hey brah, its nothing.

Ovechkin isn't a better two-way player. He gears up for big hits and forechecks pretty well, but backchecking has always been a problem for him. Semin is actually halfway decent, and played a bit on the PK last season, but takes so many Goddamn minor penalties that it ends up negating anything good he does, offensively or defensively.

Mike Green has missed almost all but eight games this year, after missing half the season last year. At the beginning of last season he was much improved in his own end. The knocks on him defensively were weak to begin with and they're even weaker when he's not on the ice to defend his reputation.

Boudreau is a great coach for a young team looking for direction. He is old-school, a task master, and yells a lot. But (and this is according to GM George McPhee) he had lost the locker room, and not just Ovechkin. I think they had to make the move now before things got out of hand. With the offseason acquisitions and the guys who are free agents next summer, I think it's Cup or bust and no one in the organization had faith that BB could do it.

My only hope now is that this shakes up the room and everyone plays their best hockey. I don't think Hunter is going to transform Ovechkin into MVP form or make him backcheck like he's Kesler or Toews, but it was clear to me that there were missed assignments and mental mistakes on the ice. If Hunter can minimize that, they should be a top seed again and then we'll see what happens.

He had his stick on the ice so it's not an assault but a hit to the head is a hit to the head, and if we want to stop it we need to suspend people.

Luongo has poor career stats against the jackets, while Schneider has started against us two or three times in a row and won them all. A few of those garnered 'we shouldn't have won that game' responses from nucks fans, so it makes sense that he'd be out against us again.

Also, I hope the BJs pick up Boudreau really. I know he doesn't have the reputation for the playoffs, but realistically here, let's take this one step at a time. If he can make the BJs relevant like he did the caps, then I'd be happy to be calling for him getting fired a few years from now.

Luongo is still #1. He aint getting traded unless some insanely something insane is given. Schneider is the hot goalie, let him do his thing. Luongo was playing better before his injury. Having 2 capable goalies is amazing. Luongo hasn't said anything, and lets hope it stays that way.

Semin leaving would be just fine with me. Hamrlik and Wideman have been pretty worthless recently as well. Even Carlson and Alzner haven't been as good as last year (the dreaded sophomore slump.) I still think the team is way too talented to not win the Southeast (or be the 4th seed if Tampa wins it.)
