ice cream?
Penguins depth at D is incredible, I know it won't happen, no need to shake things up and I know Shero prides himself on D-depth (he was assistant GM on Nashville as they loaded up on D earlier this decade) so he won't trade it away, but I can't help but drool at the thought of Ryan/Crosby/Kunitz.
Something like:
Paul Martin
Dustin Jefferey
1st Round Pick
I don't know how close to the cap Pens are, know its close-ish, but Martin makes like 4.5mil so it could potentially work. Martin is a top 4 puck-moving D. Dustin Jefferey is an NHL ready Center stuck on a Center-loaded team (although, to be fair, hes still rehabing his knee so it might take something else other than / in addition to Jefferey).
Guarantee you Ryan isn't getting traded now. Not yet least.
Boudreau to Ducks. That was fast. They snapped him up within a week. Was this pre-planned?
And does that solve Anaheim's problems? If their management thinks so, is a Bobby Ryan deal now more expensive/off the table?
Several analysts from TSN/SNET have already expressed concern over the move, it's unclear how moving a young 71-point winger will really help the team's struggles.
Odd they make that move right after they win 4-1 tonight, lol.
Wonder how this will go.
No the flip side, I wouldnt be shocked that if they Kings don't start playing better, they bring in Randy Carlyle to replace Murray, lol.
Aw fuck. And I wanted to see Carlyle behind the bench when the Ducks come to town.
Damnit.
Well that didn't take long, geez lol.
Guessing Boudreau got a call from Anaheim very shortly after he was gone from the Caps. Ryan probably isn't being shopped anymore, although if someone offers something dumb for him I wouldn't be surprised if a deal still happened.
Caps fans, what are the implications of tonight's game against the Penguins? Do you look at this game as a significant one for the likes of a slumping Ovechkin, because of who it's against?
I'm excited and nervous like I always am against the Capitals (except in the playoffs /trollface.jpg), it's too bad we won't have Letang and Michalek for it. Letang is experiencing concussion-like symptoms and he's ill to begin with, so he can't even take a baseline test. He's had migraines since he was 12 though, which obviously share similar symptoms to a concussion, and I can fucking sympathize with him because I've been dealing with them my whole life too. Penguins recalled Despres, very excited to see him in his first NHL game, and Bortuzzo hasn't looked bad at all. It may be my utmost distaste for Lovejoy as an NHL defenseman, but I feel a lot better with Bortuzzo than I do Lovejoy. I'm hoping with the "emergence" this year from Niskanen, who has done a complete 180 from acquiring him last year, keeps Lovejoy the fuck away.
But yeah wow, lose your job Monday morning, hired somewhere else Thursday morning. Some recession.
Red Wings to Host Winter Classic?

personally i would love a Red Wings vs Toronto or Blackhawks
Yes please. It'd be cool to have it inside the city itself at Comerica Park but if they really wanted to get the most money from tickets, The Big House seems like a more logical place to play since it holds more, assuming every seat gets sold (which I don't think would be a problem.)
Yeah, Seems like Ryan won't be moved now. I guess teams that were calling said the Ducks asking price was way to high for anyone to do so they went out and change coaches instead.
Pleease be at the Big House, I thought the night-time football stadium game was wayyy better aesthetically than the daytime baseball stadium games. The only real advantage to baseball stadiums is that they can take more time putting together the rink and leave it up for longer. Also as much as I'd like to see a Wings/Hawks rematch, honestly I'd prefer that they invited a warm-weather market team to be the away team, San Jose would be great with the grudge match that they have going with Detroit the last couple of years. If it's another Northeast team I'm going to be mad.
What I don't understand is, why everyone acts like its such a shock the Ducks are were they are at in the standings? They have no dept at all. Its Gezlaf, Perry, Ryan, Selanne and then a bunch of no bodies (Koivu is done at this point) and then their Defense is pretty shitty. Visnovsky and Fowler are all offense and really don't play defense all that well. Their own really shut down D man is Lydman and he has not been doing well at all.
And Hillar was always largely overrated. He will have a great game here and there that made people think he was one of the top goalies in the league but a lot of the time he makes a lot of bad mental mistakes that costs his team.
If Perry didnt catch fire at the end of the season last year, the Ducks wouldnt have even made the playoffs. This team needs a lot more work then just a coach change. They really need to start rebuilding. And with their core being young, it wont even take long to get them back to where they were.
