12/4/11 - Revenge of the East

Leafs lose the back to back against boston. The Bruins' tough, in your face play was more than the Leafs could handle, and old nemesis "Turnover" returned with a vengeance. The second period in particular seemed to be entirely in the Leafs end.

Not that it was a complete loss, Reimer returned for a baptism by fire, and was fairly strong. The team improved over the last game, but could not beat the defending cup champs.

The good news: Over Reimer's injured streak, Gustavsson amassed more wins than Roberto Luongo in the same amount of games played (and 2 fewer starts. Freaky statistics), Armstong is very close to returning, our #1 goalie just returned, and we don't play Boston again until march (thank god).

Next three games are versus the Rangers, the Devils, and the Caps. Back to stride, boys.

Now I've been hearing some absolutely ridiculous stuff out of Leafnation, all of which is retarded. Luke Schenn had some bad turnovers "Send Luke Schenn to the minors" - what the fuck. Fire Wilson, make a big trade...

This is why we can't have nice things in Toronto. When we lose "Ah the leafs suck!", when we win "Eh, the leafs were lucky", when we're not playing "HOW DO WE GET BOBBY RYAN?" We just came off a four game winning streak to play the defending stanley cup champs, champs that crushed 11 other teams in a row, and who's only loss came against the Detroit Red Wings in a shootout, we lost to them again and it's the fucking end of the world.

Do you remember when we had John Pohl as our second line center? Do you remember when we had Francois Beauchemin instead of the league's third best pointman, the league's second best rookie defenceman, and John Michael Liles? Last year, we didn't get our 14th win until New Years. We have the league's top scorer, we're playing the best hockey the town's seen in the last seven years (and probably a lot more), there's so many reasons to be happy and content, but half of this town wants to blow up the team again. For fuck's sake, Beauchemin was on our PP unit and didn't get a single goal all season.

We had the ability to throw any figure, at any player we ever wanted ever, and still no one wanted to go to Toronto. I can see why.

I know there's a bunch of leaf fans who can read this and say "Oh, well, yea. He's totally right and I've been saying the same friggin' thing", and they're up against legions of Leaf 'fans' going "HAHA THE LEAFS ARE TERRIBLE" as if 6th in conference is a fucking disaster.

More disappointed with this town than the team atm.

And yet, Im usually right, lol.

Stars came back against the Kings and and Ottawa to win those games. Figured tonight is more of the same.

As far as the Kings go, if they dont score first, or go down 2-1, there is a very good chance they will lose. Life of a team that can only manage 2 goals a game.

And I dont even really comment on the Ducks (they suck and always lose anyways) or Phoenix. I think sometimes ill say something about the Sharks.

Im severely concerned seeing the Tootoo major+game misconduct on Miller. Its one thing to run a goalie and get 2 minutes for goaltender interference. Its another thing to be making a power move around the defender and go to the net while carrying the puck and then be ejected for it. Its like the NHL wanted to give the Sabres a make-up call on the Lucic incident.

Late but a good win for the Caps last night. (I know, lolOttawa.) But it felt like they were in control of the play more and had some good zone time. Shots were about even but I felt like Ottawa was just flinging pucks at Neuvirth rather than getting good scoring chances. Best thing I saw was Hunter is trying out everyone on the PP, Orlov, Eakin, Perreault, to try and find some chemistry. Will be interesting to see if he can jump-start the unit with a few more practices and games under his belt.

I watched the replay and while Tootoo intends to carry the puck he actually ends up leaving it by the side of the net and just ends up crashing into Miller. Miller's response was freaking hilarious too, just starts punching Tootoo with his blocker in the face while he's down on the ice with 2 sabres on him.

When they interviewed Miller about it, he said it wasn't as bad as it looks.

Still, you can't tell me Tootoo made a good effort to avoid Miller. He knew what he was doing.
