In his defense, in his first full year with Calgary as coach and GM he ended an 8 year playoff drought and proceeded to take us to the stanley cup finals with a team that a lot of people wrote off. A team that beat the 1st, 2nd and 3rd seeded western teams, only to be defeated by the 1st seeded Lightning from the East in 7 games and a game 7 2-1 score.

He then proceeded to win us the North West Division title the next season (season after the lockout). It wasn't until he stepped down as coach and became only the GM that the Flames dropped from being 3rd in the west to 8th(Jim Playfair), 7th(Mike Keenan), 5th(Mike Keenan) and then eventually not in the playoffs with Brent Sutter 2 years in a row. So moral of my story, as a coach, he's solid. As a GM, not so much.

People fear Sutter will just be another Murray but, Sutter would be a lot more harder on the team when the fuck up which is what they need right now.

Murray was great for developing and teaching, but now the Kings need a coach that won't cuddle them and get on their ass.
