The suspension is funny but I'm going to have to say that story is made up. I think someone was just playing around on their website.

Daniel Sedin is out tonight due to a sore back. That's bad.
Ginger jesus is starting in net tonight. That's good.
Game 3 vs the Washington Palpables....I mean Capitals.
Going to have to bring my actual winter jacket tonight.

Well, it's just cold really. Just felt like that picture was appropriate
/goes to warm up car
If the Kings lose to the Jackets tonight... you might not see me again
This first period has been a non stop power play for Carolina.
Pronger out for the rest of the season with his concussion.
In other news, I'm open for trades in ESPN FHL. Looking to trade for Skinner, the Michalek brothers, Letang. Three concussed players on my roster is not enough.
Yo philly, Keith Ballard is a great replacement for Chris Pronger. Although Shay Weber is what Philly really needs long term wise.
Is it me or does it feel like concussions have greatly increased this season compared to last.
Here's hoping Chrissy is out forever with Post-Karma syndrome.
And nothing of value was lost.![]()
As much as I hate the Flyers and Pronger in particular I hope he is able to come back from this. But maybe that's just my way of bargaining with God to get Crosby back and healthy?
I hear the stat tossed around that they're actually down from this point last year, but I disagree. Doesn't seem that way at all. I was not a fan of the NHL taking any action to prevent further concussions (for fear of pussifying hockey) last year, even as Crosby sat forever, but Ive turned a corner recently and Im starting to think something needs changed.
Well the real question is this. Are teams being more vocal and more quick to diagnose concussions this year where in the past they may have just said player X has a headache? I think a lot of teams are being extremely careful with this diagnosis now so the ones they may have missed in the past they are picking up on now.
They need to do away with some of the things they've done to speed the game up...as much as it may upset some people. And please dont take that as me being a fan of that as the solution.
They also need stiffer restrictions on equipment...some of the shoulder pads players wear are hard as bricks.
Soft pads. It's a lot easier to go full speed at someone when you're wearing body armor. Soft pads would go a long way to eliminating that feeling of invincibility that some players seem to have when they take runs at players. I agree with what you're saying about speeding the game up. This is part of the problem. Another is disciplinary consistency. Shanahan has done a decent job so far but there have been a handful of incidents where there wasn't even a slap on the wrist. Draw a line in the sand and stick to it. Look at the names out right now with concussions. It's like a mini all star team.
I don't think there is any difference in numbers of concussions, people are just more aware of concussions the last few years and teams are starting to sit players longer since they know how dangerous they are now, thus making it a bigger deal. Even bigger spotlight when stars are injured as well.
the peg shouldn't have chanted Ovie, he answered the call and beat them with 1:14 left.
- Inability to get puck out of our zone
- Inability to get into opponent zone and keep it in for longer then 5secs
- Going 0/4 on the PP and only managing 4 shots
- Turning over the puck every 3 seconds
- Not wanting to skate to puck, Example, Letting Caps retrieve a puck on icing
Piss poor performance by the Jets. They deserved to lose tonight ('Cept Pavelec. Only one who cared tonight). Quietest night so far at the MTS Center I could remember. Fans know when they're playing like shit.
Oh well, I'll drown my sorrows in a couple of Jets shot glasses I just picked up.

oh my god it's even better than I expected
Unfortunate thing with the concussions too is they're all happening a million different ways:
Goalies run over (miller, reimer)
Goalies hit in mask by shot (mason, dipietro)
Fights (Beagle)
Boarding hits (Gerbe)
Inadvertent teammate collisions (Giroux, Michalek)
Elbowing (Letang)
Its not like its just 1 thing even thats causing them. Im wondering where helmet technology is, if anything is being developed that can be an upgrade soon. Need padding that isn't stiff - the mechanics behind safer cars is that cars are actually designed to give and crumple (causing more body work needing to be done for repairs, admittedly) which disperses and absorbs energy rather than transferring it onwards to the people inside the car and/or the pedestrian/people in the other car. Steel cars were a death trap for this reason, the jolt went right through to the passengers. Some sort of memory foam in elbow and shoulder pads that will retain its shape after a hit but minimize absorb injury is necessary. Maybe the pads need replaced 2-3 times every year cause they don't have longevity as much, but if thats what it takes....
