Quick with the shut out! Gagne signing looking good so far.
Speaking of beastmode, Kopitar is scary now that he has 2 skilled wingers with him. 4 g 5 a in 5 games so far
Its taken some time to get the offense going but it was going well tonight. Once Penner's knee gets better (he played well tonight) we should have 3 lines that can score.
Cam Ward is a pretty cool guy"The guy's 8 feet tall, and he's jumping a player. That doesn't translate as being very tough in my eyes," Ward told reporters after the game. "I'm emotional just like everybody else. When you see that happening to your own players, you wanna ... you know, I had some choice words, too, but it is what it is."
Give Ward credit, though. He's not dumb.
"It's probably a good thing that I'm a goalie and I've got full gear so nothing's gonna hurt me," he added.
The conversation between Ward and Chara prompted Rask to skate the length of the ice to have a conversation with Ward. The Carolina netminder also revealed the nature of that conversation after the game.
"I was surprised, but I didn't take it as a serious threat, so you know, it is what it is. I don't even know what was said. My heart rate didn't get up or anything. Basically, I told him to get down and back into his own net ... and he did."
Those weren't even Ward's most eye-catching quotes, either. According to Hurricanes.com writer Michael Smith, Ward had a pretty stern assessment of the situation when talking to FS Carolina's Bob Harwood.
"I'm not gonna waste my time with Tuukka Rask," Ward reportedly said to Harwood."
Ryan McDonaugh is a beast. Lundy is a beast.
I agree with Ace of Fire that Richards hasn't been crazy noticeable, but that's what he does. In Dallas he'd be involved in every Goal the Stars had in some way or another, whether it be a breakout or a secondary/primary assist. That's how he rolls. He doesn't always amaze, but in some way or form the offense always runs through him.
@Sep, told you Lundy would save me.![]()
Btw: Goal of the Year
I was so pissed when someone took Benn right before I was going to in both fantasy drafts.
Fantastic goal.
God I love Kings fans.
Gagne had 1 goal 3 assists before tonight's 2 goal, 1 assist game and the response from a fan.
"glad he finally showed up tonight, he was as useful as an 8 dollar bill the first 4 games"
great goal by Benn. However i expect Bobby Ryan, Ryan Kesler and/or Sidney Crosby to have some beast of a goal this year.
I expect Corey Perry to have fantastic goal because Fuck Corey Perry.
Canuck nation has suffered so much tragedy on and off the ice this past 5 years. Luc Bourdon, Taylor Pyatt's GF, Rick Rypien, Pavol Demitra, the riots. It hurts. R.I.P Rick.
wow, my team had 52 PIM last night. Go go goon-mode Chara
One more easy game tonight vs the Jets.
Then Vs Boston, Vs MTL, and VS PHI rounds out the weekend.
Any points we get are good, but we need better performance out of our defence, especially against teams faster than us. Which I think was a large factor in the Avalanche debacle - "Crap, they're fast and they muscle us out. What now?"
Also making its debut was the Ron Wilson Blender Method of Coaching. For the first time ever, Cody Franson and J.M. Liles were paired together on the D line... a fateful minute or so into Overtime. Thanks Ron.
Good Leaf Signs:
-Kessel is on a goal streak, which is the only kessel we know.
-The MGK line marked it's first points, which is odd considering how deadly their game has been. Two posts and a goal in monday's game.
-Matt Frattin wants a job here. Though his best moments have been single-player endeavours, Frattin-Lombardi-Armstrong is a fine third line.
Bad Leaf News:
-Bozak got in the way of several plays and found himself on the third line, as Blender method had Lombardi everywhere.
-Can I say "Thank goodness we got Lombardi for Lebda?" Because Cody Franson isn't all that special.
-First NHL softies for Reimer. Sucks.
-The PP is still shit.
-One day, we will be ready to play in the first period. But not today.
Oh, and here is the DGB "Hockey Fan's Guide to the World Series", to help illustrate the subtle differences between the two sports:
World Series: By late October, 28 teams have already been eliminated from championship contention.
NHL: By late October, no teams have been eliminated from championship contention with the exception of Winnipeg.
World Series: If you see the defence standing around helplessly while a player circles the bases before scoring, you'll know that batter has hit a home run.
NHL: If you see the defence standing around helplessly while a player circles the rink before scoring, you'll know that Phil Kessel has decided to try this year.
World Series: It took the sport a generation to recover from the cancellation of the 1994 World Series due to a player's strike led by hardline union head Donald Fehr.
NHL: I'm sure whoever's heading up the NHLPA these days would never do something like that.
World Series: For the second straight year, the Texas Rangers have won their first two playoff rounds under the leadership of popular manager Ron Washington.
NHL: Nobody with "Washington" on their jersey ever wins two playoff rounds in the same season.
World Series: Outdoor games are sometimes cancelled due to rain.
NHL: Outdoor games are played even if it's raining, because come on, it's not like anybody is going to get hurt out there.
World Series: Commissioner Bud Selig has been accused of having a conflict of interest in the games, since his family holds an ownership stake in the Milwaukee Brewers.
NHL: Commissioner Gary Bettman has never been accused of having any interest at all in the games.
World Series: "Blocking the plate" can get you seriously injured if you are a catcher and there is a close play at home.
NHL: "Blocking the plate" can get you seriously injured if you are dining with Dustin Byfuglien.
World Series: Both hands with palms down waved across the front of the body is the signal that a runner has been called safe by the umpire.
NHL: Both hands with palms down waved across the front of the body is the signal that's it was a bad idea to try to fight Arron Asham.
World Series: A player who manages four different types of hits in the same game is said to have "hit for the cycle".
NHL: A player who manages four different hits in the same game is said to have "been scheduled for a hearing with Brendan Shanahan".
World Series: The Rangers have a legitimate chance to win the championship!
NHL: Not so much.
World Series: They call it the "foul pole" even though if the ball hits it then it's not actually foul, and this is really fascinating according to every single baseball fan ever.
NHL: They call it the "goal post" even though if the puck hits it then it's not actually a goal, and nobody cares because we have other things to talk about.
World Series: You can tell who gets to host game seven of the final series by checking which league won that season's all-star game.
NHL: You can tell who gets to host game seven of the final series by checking which city's local businesses are hurriedly boarding up all their windows.
World Series: "Defensive indifference" refers to a play in which a runner is not credited with a stolen base because the defense did not make an effort to throw him out.
NHL: "Defensive indifference" will be the title of this season's Sergei Gonchar highlight DVD.
World Series: Fans look forward to a mid-game tradition called "the seventh-inning stretch", in which everyone stands around and listens to a song from 1908.
NHL: Fans look forward to a mid-game tradition called "Coach's Corner", in which everyone stands around and listens to opinions from 1908.
DGB is classic as always.
I womnder what they will have to say when the Leafs utterly collapse.
ROFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Also: That goal was impressive but weak, I know something will come along better before Thanksgiving even. Columbus isn't exactly a defensively sound team and you can see it there with that flat-footed, half-assed poke checking effort 2 of the 4 Bluejackets gave.
Also #2: Lundqvist didn't save you lol I had a shutout too last night. So now you have one really awful shitty goalie performance + one shutout and I have one shutout. You're still not winning any goalie categories.
What did Chara do??? I think Raliegh police should open a criminal investigation.
Best part.World Series: The Rangers have a legitimate chance to win the championship!
NHL: Not so much.
