Hard to argue against them as they've both been good. I haven't watched him much but Varly has been great for Colorado but it remains to be seen if he can keep it up for the whole season. Quick and Vokuon have also been pretty damn good.

Miller for sure, provided the NHL goes, even though he'll likely be beginning his slow decline by then. He won't be bad, he just won't be in his prime then. Quick, however, will be closer to that 25-28 prime age, just like Fleury has to be given real consideration for team Canada with Brodeur surely gone by 2014 and Luongo being Luongo.

My concern with Quick is he's not a "Lights out" goalie like Miller, Fleury, Price, Thomas from the times I've watched him - but then again I rarely get to watch him. It seems like his shutouts this week were more the results of his team playing well in front of him and keeping shots down. He doesn't pull saves out of his ass (that I've ever seen) the way the previously mentioned goalies do. Plus... it's just two fucking shutouts in October, both of which were against shitty teams. Miller went 41/42 on a Montreal team that controlled play all game earlier this week and then stoned a Panthers team that just scored 7 goals in their previous outing, so he's had an equal week himself. Only difference is, people KNOW they can expect more of this from Miller. I say a lot of stupid things on here, some on purpose, sometimes not - but I'm not already thinking for Vezina for Quick LOL

Yeah, I get what you are saying. Quick at times have stolen some games. If you watch the Philly game he made some awesome saves in that game to give us a chance to win. He is very athletic in a lot like Thomas with the whole "bull dog" mentality where he will fight through everyone just to make that save. Its a shame people don't get to watch Quick more because I think if people saw him more, people would realize just how good of a goalie he has become.

Honestly though, I might over hype him due to the fact that goal tending has been shitty for years in LA. The last solid goalie before Quick was Potvin and that was for a short 2 years. Before that, who knows, lol. Hrudy was ok but wasn't all that amazing.

A lot of things to consider for top 5 goalies in the league.

Martin Brodeur (Yes, he's old but he has championships and currently most wins in the league)
Tim Thomas (Most recent cup winner, most wins past 3 seasons)
Ryan Miller (Best American goalie atm, plays on a shitty team, great GA)
Roberto Luongo (One if not the best regular season goalie past 5 years)
Marc Andre Fleury (Has a ring, above average during regular season and playoffs)

Top 5 isn't an issue, it's 6-10 that's the real question.
Renne? Price? Quick? Lundqvist? Kiprusoff? Volkuun?

im really torn on what I want with Phoenix.

Part of me wants them to move because there just isnt a fan base for them there but part of me wants them to stay because its an easy trip for the Kings to make 3 times a year as opposed to having to go to Dallas, Columbus, St. Louis, Chicago, etc.

Nhl should just remove a team, but i doubt that'll ever happen. It's not just Phoenix that is having issues, CBJ & Florida are also having issues. Most likely a team will get moved to Quebec. After that should maybe move a team to Portland then seriously consider removing teams. NHL needs to push to get the Islanders a new arena. Too much history there to lose that franchise.

I just had this talk on another forum that the NW really should get a team. Either Seattle or Portland (i've heard Seattle doesnt really want one but Portland really would like one)

KC is a choice too I heard but not sure how well it will do. They did sell out the Kings vs Pens pre-season game though I believe.

Columbus is hard to get a read on because I mean, if your team hasnt really done shit in the 10+ years you have been in the league, how much will you support it? I bet a good season and at least something to show in the playoffs will turn it around.

So I'm reading a lot of comments that Colorado made a good move getting Varlamov. I agree he's been lights out so far. But let's be honest here, Colorado still overpaid. The man was a restricted free agent. All Sherman had to do was sign him to an offer sheet. GMGM would have let him walk since he was no longer in their long term plans. You can put a pig in a dress, put ribbons in it's hair, but it's still a fucking pig.

I agree they over paid for Varly. But there's no denying he has the ability to carry when need be. Which you can't really put a price on.

People really get too hung up on lower bowl attendance. Who fucking cares about the lower bowl, most people can only afford upper bowl esp when you're only drawing 10k a night. Who's going to pay 5x the price of an upper bowl ticket just to sit closer to see Pheonix play LA on a weeknight? That pic conveniently has the upper bowl cut out.
