How is pugs on other servers? I find myself in pugs that can kill ifrit alot these days. Its a good thing you can 7 man the fight without any big problems since there seem to be atleast one derp in every group that always eats the eruptions.
I have no idea why EU people complain about the delay. I'm not able to detect any delay making it harder in the fight. Havent gotten hit by eruption the last 4 kills or so. And when i got hit it was because i was animation locked (Which is gay)
I know we're on the same server but I had a different experience than you with pugs, they almost always had more than just one derp in them. Don't get me wrong, I did get some good pugs that got wins.. it's just that most were complete fail.
By the way! My group has been going every night around 9-10 EST, we usually need 1-2 lnc to come with us! You should come some time!
I'd say most pick-ups I have done only really had one derp. The problem is that the derp was always a Conjurer... and after dying a few dozen times, the tank wouldn't be getting cures. My hate meter would blink, and I would disengage and /sit. :\
It really depends. I have had many runs where I had no latency at all and it was easy. We've done the fight so often we usually don't die and if we do, it was from animation lock since someone was parsing and wanted to outdamage each other.
But at other times delay can get really bad. The other day the server was already a bit laggy and we were doing the fight. Cracks under me and I start running immediately, I run all the way to the back wall and suddenly get hit by 3 cracks at once and die. People kept asking me how I managed to die at the back wall. >.>"
Same day two runs later we had the same funny delay on cracks kill 3 Lancers at once. o.o
So I can definitely understand why it bothers some people so much. You know the fight, know what to do and when to do it. You run away on time but still get hit, kinda sucks. xD
Am at roughly 2/83 now. Wish my Cane would finally drop. @.@
if you are lagged, dont even try to do this fight, i also have died all the way in the back by 3 eruptions + lag. I had yellow connection all day, so i should have know this would happen. But something this bad only happened once.
90% of my deaths now are from forgetting or hitting the wrong macro for sentinel when he hellfires(i bet all mages that fought ifrit already died curing the tank as reflex right before hellfire) .. funny that always when i do this i have 2.6k hp or less.
6/7 on ifrit drops as of tonightever since my friends got 50 and sentinel and we started our static we've all been blowing through this fight! So much nicer than all the damn pick up fails I went through.
Funny thing, I started doing this fight with only lnc at 50, so obviously all I wanted was harpoon...guess which weapon I don't have?
Not a big deal though, I've been perma cnj ever since I got it to 50, even after 60 wins I still love this fight!

I actually still have fun in the fight as well, even after 200+ kills (stopped counting a long time ago). Coincidentally, I'm also 6/7. The fight has a decent enough attention-span requirement, and a high enough performance ceiling, that you can keep on pushing at it. We kinda stopped gunning hard a while back after doing a 6-LNC kill (shameless plug), but that was nowhere near the best that we could have done, and now we're doing a last-minute push for gear before 1.20. Hopefully we can pull together the people to try to beat our best time.
Fievel : I wouldnt mind playing with you guys on weekends, But i guess its gonna be hard on weekdays since im EU. 9-10 EST is like what? 3am for me? XD Ill add you on friend list anyway and we can talk ingame. Always nice to know more ppl thats not mentally handicapped. ;D
After using 3 and a half stacks of tapers and still being only 3/7 (with other weapon drops being dupes...), I'm taking a break from this until 1.20 and the damn token. Still haven't gotten an Axe, Harpoon or Blade (those being the only 3 I actually wanted)...
Ifrit weapons for erybody now
[dev1214] The inferno totem item has been added to the rewards for “Bowl of Embers (Hard),” a set amount of which can be exchanged for an Ifrit Weapon of your choice.
Upon obtainment, inferno totems will first be placed in your loot list rather than the inventory. This allows you to relinquish the item to another player, even though it is untradeable.
* The inferno totem will appear only for players who possess the inferno lamp key item.
Once you have obtained a sufficient amount of inferno totems, you may exchange them for an Ifrit Weapon of your choice by speaking to the NPC Rowena, in the Ul’dah Merchant Strip (5,4).
That's been known for awhile. But on the subject of Ifrit weapons: Attack is being increased from 20 to 30 on LNC/PGL/MRD/GLA/ARC weapons and Potency is being increased from 20 to 30 on CON/THM weapons.

I keep hearing people go on about how 1.2 was going to make every 10 wins guarantee a token... This is just bullshit speculation, right? I'm just so tired of correcting/arguing at this point.
p.s. 0/79! If I somehow get to 0/100 in the next 4-5 days, I'm going to quit this game. :3
just to shed some perspective for you mioko, assuming your getting your kills before the 15 minute warning each time. you are looking at a full 30 minutes inbetween fights (including fight).
This is just shy of 40 hours of ifrit fights. I hope you had fun getting all that dark matter!

Also, with the announcement of the inferno totem/kupo nut charm alternate means of obtaining weapons... someone is telling me that the French translation of the notes says specifically that the weapons cost 10 of these tokens. Is this truths?
