    GTX 260 > 570 upgrade problem

So, I got my new EVGA GTX 570 in the mail today and when I switched it out with my GTX 260, also EVGA, my computer started doing this:

    sorry for huge
    Spoiler: show

Also, in device manager I get error 43 (hardware problem)

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, used driver sweeper, and even, as you can see in pic, after hours of frustration reloaded windows....

Has anyone experienced something similar and fixed it, or have any ideas in general of what I could try to get it working. While I pray that it's not broken.

What power supply do you have?

If you've eliminated everything else (drivers, OS, make sure everything is connected properly etc.) and your power supply seems fine as 650w is more than enough for a single 570 and it has plenty of amps on the 12v rail, then the simplest explanation would be faulty graphics card. From the screenshot it sort of looks similar to the artifacting that occurs when capacitors are blown which happened to me in an older card, but it affected the entire screen and not just half of it like in your situation.

If possible, try the card in a different PC (a friend, or take it to a PC shop and ask if they can test it) and see if the problem still exists. Also make sure the fan on the card is working right, and use something like EVGA precision or MSI afterburner to monitor temps as it could be an overheating issue too.

I had a similar issue with my 570, and it was a faulty card.

I've had cards do that from time to time, ended up being all faulty, so I would RMA it. The only other thing that would come to mind is the PSU, having a bad rail.

edit. Does it cause the problem on the bios boot up screen when it shows the graphic/logo?

Call EVGA support. I assume the reason you bought from them and not another company is because of their strong-as-iron customer support, a well-deserved reputation.

First, it's not the rail, I had the same ones plugged into my GTX 260, and when I put that card back in it worked perfectly.

Second, yes. The second I switch on the machine, from the BIOS screen on it has graphical glitches all over the screen.

To correction: it's actually a used card I got off eBay from a guy that was selling a pair of them he had in sli. I have ordered a brand new one from newegg while I return the one I bought from him.
