    Alright, Story time number 2.

So, after I got discharged from the Hospital after my Transplant. I was on T3s for pain(Tylenol 3). They weren't helping and I informed my Doctor of this. Now, instead of switching me to something better. He just said "Take an extra one everytime you take them". So, for a solid month, I was taking 2 T3s every 4 hours. A month of that got me so badly constipated that I had to be put in the hospital, wasn't allowed to eat any food, and my god, did they try so much to make me shit. I'm pretty sure they were close to using Draino.

Well, after a week of being in the hospital, not allowed to eat, but still had to take my Antirejection meds, My drug levels shot through the roof. I was supposed to go home on a thursday but i feeling dizzy and decided to stay another day. Well, that decision saved my life. Had I gone home. I'd have died.

You see, Friday morning I woke up, I ate my 32 Pieces of Bacon(Not joking), and again, I felt dizzy. I decided to take a quick nap before I headed home. Well, for me, I closed my eyes only to open them 36 hours later in ICU.

What had happened was, I was chatting up the Nurses at the Nurses Desk and I had a seizure. I dropped to the floor and seized like a mother fucker. They carried me to my room, where I had another seizure. After some time, I want for a CT or MRI. I don't remember, and during that, I had my 3rd and final seizure. On my 3rd one, I seized so hard that I aspirated into my lungs and fractured my spine in my T6 and T7(That's roughly between the shoulder blades).

So, I had to be sent back to ICU, had tubes to drain the vomit in my lungs, and no one for the first week believed I was in back pain. They only believed me after I demanded they look at my back. So, for the first week after those Seizures the only thing I had for pain was a cunting Hot towel. I was extremely pissed. After that they said "Oh, I'm sorry".

But ya, now, because of that. I am in extreme pain. My back hasn't healed properly and I get about 2-5 hours a sleep a day. I've even had a Vertibleplasti done and that didn't help at all.

So, after they find out my back is fucked. They put me on a different pain killer. This time I got Hydromorphone. It worked fine for the first 5 months, then everytime I took it, it made me vomit horribly. I went an entire month without pain control because I didn't want to vomit.

I met with Chronic pain and they switched me to Oxycodone(breakthrough), and Oycotin(Long lasting), for the first week, they worked beautifully. I was in no pain whatsoever. But after that first week, it started to hurt again. On a scale of 1 to 10 of pain. 10 being the worst, 1 being nothing. I went from a 1 to a 3 in the second week of Oxys. In the 3rd week I went up to a 5, in the 4th week I went up to a solid 8 and it holds steady at an 8 now.

A month goes by and I meet with Chronic pain again. I tell them that the Oxy isn't working anymore. They accuse me of taking street drugs, call me a drug addict, and say that I have to deal with the pain for another month because they don't trust me.(This was just 3 weeks ago).

I take it the pain your in is the only thing to keep you from a murderous rampage. This is why I hate doctors. I had my appendix removed almost 2 years ago, and the first night after it was removed, any time I sat up I had horrible pain in my shoulder like i re-tore it, and the night nurses were confused on why I kept asking for Morphine. Doctor the next morning was like, oh yea the way we inflate gas in you to make it easier to remove your appendix will cause that. Your shoulder will feel like shit for 48 hours (yea no shit). Would have been nice if they told me, I thought I was going to need another MRI on my shoulder since I thought I injured it pulling myself up in the hospital bed so I could take a leak.

Thank you for the read, it is sort of grounding. Last month, a girl that rode the school bus with me when we were in high school survived her double lung transplant (she also had CF), but then her liver failed and she passed away. Her mom said she woke up and took a huge breath, and couldn't believe it was real...felt so good to be able to breathe. Was your experience similar? Sorry for the loss of your friend too.

Your story really is inspiring man, I don't hear too many life or death stories like that. Although, I tend to avoid them when reading in the paper or online. I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. You have a strong spirit, obviously, and that shit is contagious. Thanks for sharing your story with us.

If we're going by my imagination, I think burning alive would score a solid 4/10.

Hey Myrrh! I remember when you talked about this before and I'm glad to see you got your lungs. I'm sorry to hear about your friend, though.

Hopefully this gave you some perspective and gave you peace that assholes such as those above won't find.

It's not wrong to post on a gaming forum about a life-changing experience. Since when was a friend ever something just "tangible"?

As a professional troll, I know those two people were just saying stupid crap to get reactions. It didn't bother me at all. I made this thread in memory of my close friend. It doesn't matter if no one here knew him. I did, and that's all I need. I see it as being no different then an Obituary in the news paper.

I'm jealous of your courage, Myrrh. I'd like to think I could face death, but then I realize that I won't do something if there's even the possibility of breaking a limb, let alone threatening my life, so I doubt I could actually deal if I were facing my own mortality like that. Never stop giving life your best "COME AT ME BRO!" stance.

Sorry for your loss. I hope there's some comfort in knowing your friend isn't suffering anymore, at least.

I personally don't see why we pay anything medical related.

Went to E.R for meningitis bout 3 months ago. Pumped some shit through my IV and discharged me 2hours later. Got slapped for a 700$ hospital bill. Wanna know who's not paying that?

I mean seriously. I saw the doctor for maybe 6 minutes TOTAL. The shit they put in my IV was about 1/5 a shot/ 700$? LOL! You best be troll'n

You really should blog. I remember reading a blog from a girl living with CF that was heartbreaking, especially after she had passed away and her mother blogged in her place.

[My attention whore story is on the first page.]
The first neurosurgeon I went to (one of the brain tumors I have/had was operable) spoke to me for about 5 minutes, told me to wait four months before doing anything at all, and billed me $900. I would likely have died or experienced more crippling side effects within that time period if I did not receive any treatment. Didn't recommend that I get a second opinion or anything, just basically told me to go die and billed me $900.

When getting chemotherapy, the oncologist billed me for 90 minute doctor visits every time. I spoke to her, being generous, maybe 2 minutes each time. My only interaction with any medical professionals after that was nurses coming to change the IV bags every once in a while. I assume I was pretty much paying for all of the illegal immigrants/poor people that made up the majority of patients there. Not that that's a terrible thing, but still.

For the small lengthening of my lifespan that I received, all of my treatment combined cost (my insurance) more than $1.2 million.

This, many times over. Before me and the wife got married and she didn't have insurance, she developed a rash that wound up bleeding slightly from the neck. Turned out to be from her collar which was nicel plated. Had to take her to the ER to make sure it wasn't something worse, 45 minutes in the waiting room, 10 minutes in an actual room, 1 minute of which was with the doctor on duty for a prescription for a cream, $600 dollar bill.
