Now that I think about it, Fighting Game forum would be also good since I know one of you guys would make a sticky on movesets for specific characters, and general fighting game lingo and commands and such.

Best thing ever on SSF4 topic is reading up on Aurara bouncing around happy and shit that he's getting Sakura experience and learning the "right" way playing with ya'll. We need more of that from others on BG from within the FG circle imo.

Meh, for popular characters and a few mid tiers. There are really no good guides for the lower tier characters, like Guy, for example.... Only videos of grandmasters on Youtube. It might be hoping for a bit too much for such underused character(s) however. For Marvel, most online guides are all out of date, leaving people with information from the Brady Guide (for bnbs) and a semi decent, out of date, mashed up SRK guide. There shouldn't be a problem with having a BG circle for this type of thing where we know information would stay up-to-date.

Then again, I could run it back and say the Square-Enix Game forum gets close to no traffic at all to justify it still existing. Shouldn't be a problem having a Fighting Game forum. Very certain traffic would pick up even if it was made as a sub forum within the Gaming Forum.

Actually a subforum sounds like a MUCH better idea.

Now that I'm finished eating, a few thoughts:

In respect to helping the streaming subforum, they have to help themselves first. If they want to bring in the viewers, then they need to be willing to put in the work, advertise themselves, get active and get into the community. We can only help them so much.

I agree on having the forum for real talk, for help, etc. And the only way I would want to have the forum is if it is real talk. I'm not talking 100% srs business all day, err day, but it needs to do three things:

1. Help people get to an even playing field. Help the new/semi-new people learn the game. Teach them different techniques, lingo, footsies, etc. And teach those who DO want to learn the game. If someone's going to have a bitchfit because he's getting stomped, but he won't listen to why he's getting stomped, then don't give him the time of day. But if he starts asking questions, it's a teaching opportunity.

I can agree with getting into movesets/combos/analysis for more lesser-known characters. It gets funny when people do it wrong, too (eg. Air's recent posting on Gen, which was completely fucking wrong).

2. Give a ground for people to have legitimate discussion where arguments are backed up. If they are backed up poorly, the opposition cannot be blamed for going in. This means requiring people to use their heads, unless it's a fact that doesn't need explanation (eg. Fuck Yun).

3. Coordinate tournaments/gatherings/practice/etc.

If it can't do those three things, it's going to go nowhere.

And I could think of a couple forums at this moment that get little to no traffic.

I can't wait for Thanksgiving week. Finally get my 360 back for a week so I can grind some training time...

I am down for a Fighting Game subforum. I'll post to help new players and what not. I try to keep my snobbyness to a minimum but if people have legitimate interest in learning then I'd love to help out if needed. I wouldn't mind modding either.

Dole is spot on, yes these threads see a decent amount of traffic but no where enough to warrant a subforum. Also, if you look through the 500+ pages of the last SF thread it boiled down to the same 15-20 people posting.

Also, if you want move sets just visit SRK's guides or their dedicated forums. Each character subforum there has all the moves and such. No need to basically copypasta that shit over here.

SRK's character forums vary widely. While Gen's forum was one hell of a help, Ryu's was (and continues to be) a fucking mess.

However, people are now looking at the tree and missing the forest.

I actually sat down in training mode with a group of 4 friends because they were tired of hearing me bitch about the character. We went through EVERYTHING: the logic behind his high/low mixup (and how it's nonexistant and not scary in this game), his option-selects, and just how bad his back swing blow and specials are at doing WHAT THEY'RE MADE TO DO.

The character is bad at this point that there's no point in playing him seriously. Japan has him as the 2nd worst character in the game and I've been saying that for months now.

What's the big deal about making a sub forum? Don't tell me it's going to take some major manpower to maintain it? I'd say minimal at best, I think we're the most behaved group in all BG.
