Nah I was an Elf, I never got that far into XI, haha. Think like a month after I finally got into an endgame LS I ended up quitting which I still don't understand.

Simple - they suck at it and in general (life) are likely people who aren't very dedicated or learn easily.

Mostly I think it comes down to those who are willing to learn, and those who are not. Fighting games (Capcom ones is what I'm using here, I have never been a huge fan of anything else besides Soul Blade and Soul Calibur 1 - Fuck the series after that.) are all about being able to learn and then modifying your actions. For example, I am not good at either SF or Marvel, and I often get discouraged after I get bodied.. but I feel like I am improving with every loss be it in some small way. I always try to figure out something that I can do differently, even if it takes me a long time to implement it properly. Most people see how complicated good fg's are and know that they don't have the patience to try to learn enough to breach the skill gap. Hence, fighting games are stupid.

Err idk, you guys have seen pretty first-hand where I started and where I've ended up to this point, and I'll say as someone that is still a pretty new FG player that everything I've touched outside of BB was inaccessible as fuck. There's plenty of resources once you know where to look, but Street Fighter as a series is fucking awful at being welcoming for new players, and the matchmaking is still shitty. It's hard to get motivated to learn when you buy a game, all the game teaches you is a few basic if not impractical combos, then you go online where half your matches are against the online version of the guy at the arcade who comes up when you're playing the CPU and ruins your time by bodying the fuck out of you and wasting your quarters, and the other half is against Blanka/Vega troll garbage or tier-whoring. I've grown to love the game and franchise but I'll be quick to admit that it was frustrating as fuck and many times I've been tempted to put it down for good.

I just hope that Skullgirls sparks off a new wave in the current FG renaissance and developers become more inclined to focus as much on the teaching/playability aspects as they do on frame data and damage balancing.

I have the total opposite issue, I only practice against Viper because I hate getting my head beat in by Welt every day, then I forget that I have to cr.lk instead of cr.hp in between l.tatsu and EX tatsu for normal shotos lol.
