It handcuffs the Raiders in the long run. Sure installing a better QB works for the now, but if that now isn't spectacular, it's really diminishing the long term benefit for temporary mediocre gain. Think of it as one of those would you rather have $1 million right now or .01 cent that doubles everyday for a couple years.

if a first round pick turns out to be carson palmer, I'd say you break even with the pick - not a great pick, but not a bust. Sounds like an average first rounder to me.

the raiders want to win now rather than later, so sacrificed another pick as well which will probably be second, but they dont care if its a first if they make it deep into the playoffs.

if it turns into 2 first round picks that means Palmer takes them to the playoffs, that's not a bad thing considering how long it's been since they've been competitive. The thing people need to remember is this wasn't STL who is a shit team, this is a good team, they had a real shot at the playoffs before Campbell got hurt without making a move after Campbell got hurt they basically throw those chances away.

I think Palmer gives them a chance at playoffs 2 years in a row given the rest of the young team. It's not like they signed someone over 35 or pushing 40, they traded for a QB that has proven he can win with a (no offense heady) less than avg team not to mention he has a history with Hue Jackson which means Jackson knows exactly what he's getting.

Hester gets fucked up at casino

Chicago Bears receiver Devin Hester was slapped on the back of the head at a Des Plaines, Ill., casino on Friday by a man who was arrested on a misdemeanor count of battery, Des Plaines Police Chief Jim Prandini said.

Daniel Rago, 52, of Mount Prospect, Ill., was charged after slapping the back of Hester's head while the receiver was in a cash transaction line Friday night.

"Rago comes up from behind and slaps Mr. Hester with an open hand and walks away," Prandini said Tuesday. "Mr. Hester turned around and notified casino security. The offender was escorted to a security office and we were contacted. We were able to review the incident on video, and that verified the facts as stated by Mr. Hester.

"No prior incident between the two took place."

Prandini did not believe that Rago knew who he was slapping. He said Rago made some type of statement about "slapping the hat off his head or something."

Hester cooperated with officers and signed a complaint.

Rago has a Dec. 1 court date.
