The Patriots placed seventh-year defensive lineman Mike Wright on season-ending injured reserve Thursday and re-signed cornerback Phillip Adams to the 53-man roster.

Wright, who missed the final seven games of the 2010 season after sustaining a concussion, suffered a second concussion in a season-opening win in Miami.

He returned to practice last week and engaged in two days of limited participation, but Thursday's move ends his season and could threaten his career. He registered a tackle and a half-sack against the Dolphins, his only appearance this year.

Addai likely out Sunday

Colts running back Joseph Addai says he's a "long shot" to play Sunday at Cincinnati because of a strained hamstring.

Addai was hurt on a carry late in the first quarter of last Sunday's game against Kansas City. He said Thursday he doesn't know when he will return to action.

Addai had the same problem three years ago and said he came back too early.

Addai has been one of the most productive Colts when healthy, but he has a history of injury problems. He has missed 14 games the past four years, including eight last season because of a shoulder injury.

Delone Carter and Donald Brown will get most of Addai's work. The Colts activated Darren Evans from the practice squad this week.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant failed to show up for a scheduled Tuesday hearing to settle a $600,000 debt with a jeweler/ticket broker.

Beth Ann Blackwood, the attorney for Colleyville resident Eleow Hunt, filed a motion in Tarrant County court Wednesday afternoon seeking an immediate hearing to settle the debt.

Hunt claims he sold the jewelry and sporting event tickets to Bryant from January 2009 to July 2010.

Bryant's attorney, Royce West, did not return a phone call seeking comment.

According to court documents, Bryant postponed an Oct. 4 hearing to Oct. 11, but he failed to arrive for Tuesday's hearing at West's office and didn't give a reason.

Bryant had wanted to take care of all court matters on Tuesdays, which is the regular day off for players in the NFL. But because he failed to show up Tuesday, Blackwood's latest motion asks for the settlement hearing to be held on any day.

Bryant was unavailable for comment. David Wells, Bryant's adviser, didn't return a call seeking comment.

Young signed a record 10-year, $40 million contract with the Los Angeles Express of the now-defunct United States Football League in 1984. He agreed to take his payment in the form of an annuity to help the fledgling team; he would receive 40 million dollars paid out over 40 years.
As it turned out, Young did well to take his contract in the form of an annuity. In his second season with the Express, owner William Oldenburg went bankrupt, and was forced to turn the team over to the league after being unable to find a buyer. The season rapidly became a fiasco. Before one game, the team bus driver refused to drive the Express to the Coliseum after his paycheck bounced. Young contributed a lot of money, as did some of his teammates, and the driver got them to their game. Young then lined up in the tailback position and took snaps from the shotgun formation because the Express were left with no healthy running backs.

The league ceased operations in 1986 after losing most of its claims in an antitrust suit against the NFL. As of 2010, Young continues to receive his annuity. Payments started at $200,000 per year in 1990 and will continue to increase annually. In 2027, the final year of the contract, Young will receive $3.173 million.

Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall says he has been playing with his emotions in check and plans to show more passion Monday night against the New York Jets, with a goal of getting kicked out of the game in the second quarter.

When asked if he was joking, Marshall said no.

"I'm not joking. I'm serious," Marshall told the South Florida Sun Sentinel. "They're going to fine me. It's probably going to be like a $50,000 fine. But that quarter and a half that I'm out there, I'm going to play like a monster.

"I might get in a fight with Bart Scott. (Antonio) Cromartie, we pretty much matured our relationship and grew a little bit. We used to fight in Denver and San Diego. If that happens, it happens, so we'll see."

In July, Marshall disclosed he was diagnosed earlier this year with borderline personality disorder. On Thursday, he said he hasn't played with enough emotion in the first four games for the Dolphins, who are winless.

Marshall said he might get into a fight or a shoving match against the Jets, or bang the ball off his head.

Marshall has 22 catches this year but is tied for third in the NFL with five drops.
