I honestly never thought that I would see someone defend the PATRIOT Act in this day and age.

Who is Ron Paul?
I don't know how many times I have to say this, but obviously I have to say it again as people don't seem to listen at all.
The PATRIOT act isn't perfect, and has sadly been abused. I don't support that at all. I do, however, support the act itself. It do need to be rewritten so that they can't detain US citizens indefinitely without a lawyer, for example. But like I said, the act itself is good. The government may be abusing it, but that doesn't make the bill itself bad in the same way that you can't claima gun is bad because someone chose a gun as a murder weapon.
Again, the gill itself is good - the government officials that abuse it is not. Therefor, the bill needs to be looked over (As I've stated before several times), but it shouldn't be removed completely.
A good bill leaves no room for abuse. You can't say it's a good bill as long as it gets rewritten; if it needs to be rewritten, it's not a good bill.
