I'd recommend assigning a static IP address to your PS3 and putting that IP as DMZ in your router. This will eliminate any port specific game issues.

Configure your PS3 to use specific IP info rather then obtain automatically. You should set the stuff to (inside PS3 network config):

IP Address: 192.168.1.150 (choose a random number in middle of range so its never in use)
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.254 (or router IP if its different)
DNS info: 192.168.1.254 (or router IP if its different)

Then set your PS3 IP as DMZ so its open to internet.
Login to router : 192.168.1.254 user: admin pass: admin (unless you changed it)
Configuration > Virtual Server > DMZ, put 192.168.1.150 there.

That will enable DMZ to your PS3 and it will be fully exposed to the internet. If you decide you want to do port specific stuff, you will still need a static IP on your PS3, then you will need to forward the ports accordingly.

As an addition to what Mafai said, instead of setting an IP address for the PS3 in the middle of the range, you can check to see what address the router will assign automatically under the DHCP settings. My Linksys routers by default hand out address from .100 to .254, so I usually set my static IP address from .2 to .99. The chances of a conflict occurring are nonexistant, but it prevents it in any case.

Another thing you could check is if your router has Universal Plug-n-play. The PS3 should pick that up automatically, but I know I was having trouble with it until I rebooted the router.

The pool starts at 100 on his router and assigns 99 IPs, so he could use 1-99 as well. Good point.

Also, a firmware update might let your router play nicer with your PS3.

If UPnP was disabled, you should test your PS3 without changing anything else and see if it works properly.

If not then do what I posted, and yes the DNS info should be your router's IP address.

only set the ip addresses and other stuff as a last resort, because believe me you can get kicked mid game if your router / psn / etc acts funny when you have specific things set within your ps3. i had the same issue when i first got this u-verse bullshit. But now i am up like a pro. i did something completely different bc none of that worked. i went in and changed the modems settings and then bam everythings working. random question. do you use ps3 media server? do you notice your router will get stupid and its like the ps3 forces it to "reboot" each time u turn on the ps3 when u have media server enabled properly?

After you configure your PS3 to use the static info, you need to assign the IP you used in your PS3 as DMZ on your router. I mentioned earlier how to do that

I don't believe you can even get NAT-1 as long as you're still behind a router?

NAT-2 with DMZ should be fine for any of your needs anyhow.

Yeah I think I have Nat-2 for mine as well and haven't had issues with anything lately.
