How is the camera work for this? I think it has a found-footage style, right? How bad is the shaking compared to something like Cloverfield?

England's Daily Mail gave Chronicle 4/5 stars, high praise indeed! Not much of a review: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...ted-treat.html no spoilers and very short.

It absolutely does NOT have a found footage style, other than for 5 minutes of the film. It's more of a third person style. You will understand once you see it. Lots of EXCELLENT non shaky camera work. You will be surprised.

Good to know. My stomach's a gaping vagina when it comes to shaky cam (Blair Witch, Quarantine, Bare Wench Project, etc.), that was the only thing that me concerned about seeing this film.

Excellent movie. For those concerned, it did not really use shaky-cam or similar gimmicks that most found-footage films seem to rely on in a crutch. It was interesting that near the end, some parts almost felt like a movie-motion ride since your perspective is the camera, not the characters.

Also really enjoyed the movie, though it did feel to short. Only part that bugged me was right before the end with his whole life hitting the fan. Its like youve just been fired, your dog just got ran over and oh by the way you have cancer. When it rains it pours I guess.

    Too short?
No if you tried to drag out this story it would have turned into a shitfest. That is the number one reason I liked the movie; it was edited well!
Perhaps I am a minority, but I prefer movies in the 90-100 min max range. If you cannot tell your story in that amount of time you are padding.
    Seriously.

Loved this movie, though for some reason I seemed to be the only person in the theater who didn't hate it. Heard everyone talking about how much they hated the movie as I was walking out.

I watched the movie tonight as well. I actually liked it quite a bit. Honestly, it surprisingly lived up to my expectations! Although, of course now I wish I had powers like that as I'm sure everyone does sometimes. That's the only downside to watching movies like this.

Good film. The intro is actually a bit long if anything else, but at 90 minutes it's an otherwise tight ride.
The shakycam is definitely there for longer than 5 minutes but it's not super-severe like Blair Witch or Cloverfield. They're surprisingly merciful and it's seldom any shakier than someone walking slowly with it in hand.

Only real gripes about the movie:

    Spoiler: show
Bullies, neighborhood trash, abusive dad, any number of interfering authority figures and a terminally sick mom. Who's the first to die? THE BLACK GUY, FUCKING AGAIN.
He probably didn't need to rip all the cameras and cel phones through the observation deck windows to deliberately surround himself to catch the argument at the top of the space needle for everyone to watch. Just felt like a lazy way to get a ton of quick cuts at the end there.

This IS the American version of Akira. That other film should just give it up right now, even if you find yourself a little bored with the 'oh boy here's Lost Boys/The Craft for the Pokemon generation' or the rather obvious, low-budget special effects, the last 30 minutes really redeem the film, bigtime.

Its sad when a movie like akira needs to use this movie as a benchmark. The movie was extremely well done. A must see for any one who's into scifi movies.

Same exact thing happened with me today when i saw the movie, had people bitch saying it "wasted time in their lives" for watching it, whereas I thought it was a very good movie.

this movie was the fucking SHIT! omg it was nice! I usually hate the found-footage style films but you kinda don't notice it after a bit. Directed really well and story line flowed well, I didn't think they really wasted any time, they said everything they needed to say and had a few surprises in there

    Spoiler: show

did not expect the black guy to get killed especially so early! I was hoping he wouldn't be killed at the end but the way it happened and the ending made it work out nicely.

Will probably go see this 1-2 more times because imo it was just awesome.

Saw this tonight and thought it was amazing. The story really impressed me and is something people should take note of.

    Spoiler: show
There's only so much shit someone can take in their life. He was a depressed kid who kept being pushed and pushed and had nobody to help him with his problems. Once he had the power, he knew he could use all this built up aggression to get back at those that hurt him. I really liked how at the end, his reasoning for going nuts was because the other guy saved his Father. Such a simple device that I thought was really well done.

Movie was hands down amazing, probably one of the best ive seen in the past year. I liked how the story in the end didn't really have a bad guy or a good guy and was just all about interpretation of events.

    Spoiler: show
even the dad, who was a fucking prick had a back story as to why he might have become that way
