It'll definitely lose something on a smaller screen. Probably not a good candidate for a blu-ray screening for a variety of reasons. Atmosphere is important to this movie.

It probably wont go over as well as watching it in your home on your pc or something.
Movie was ok. The conversation I had about it after was better though
What would you do if you had powers like that? I figure you can either try and change the world or live life in leisure. But you're superman and you'd let your powers die with you without changing the world?! Plus, living life in leisure was easy to figure out and boring.
So here's where I hit a wall.. how do you change the world without creating something as destructive or even more destructive than whatever corruption you try and fix.. What I mean by that is you can't just hold the world ransom and make politicians/people do "good", otherwise you just create a pretty shitty religion.
All I've got, I think, is that the goal would be to educate the entire population somehow, and my first thought was to hire a bunch of guys out of prestigious schools and rework education, fund schools, lobby for education, etc. with money you can get from crushing up coal into diamonds or something. But that's kind of boring; although it could be the after-climax ending to a movie about a kid/man with powers who goes out to try and change the world with superpowers.
Thought it'd make for an interesting story. More interesting than this, and way more interesting than that retarded movie about the same powers, Push(fuckin, moving guns around with your telekinesis when you could just squeeze a guy's heart, or scramble-eggs their brain for insta-death?). A movie about a kid who's unhappy with the world could be a gold-mine. He could go all commando into warzones, threaten politicians during their live TV speeches to do "good", all kinds of superhero shit etc etc and then he'd see first hand that he isn't creating a better world - just a different and still "unjust" world. Then something else
And his name would be superman.
Wow, post turned out to be kind of long lol
You could do that, it's a common path to harmony at the cost of tyranny and something very thoughtfully explored in the now-unobtainable issues of Miracleman.
Personally I'd probably 'think local' with superpowers, solve problems at a regional level rather than try to fix the whole world. Fixing the world would require the power to do things on an atomic scale aka Godlike powers. At that point you might as well just teleport to mars and make your own life.
Very good movie and thought provoking (I'm sure that was one of their intents) I like how they played both sides of the coin when it comes to possessing crazy powers and their consequences.
Its definitely a movie you wanna experience within the atmosphere of the movie itself due to how the camera work was done.
I'd love to be able to say I would attempt to do "good" things for the world, but in all honesty I can see myself doing things that would be considered very unjust. Would I steal? Probably. I'd also probably get into random fights just to use my powers. And let's not forget, I would pull random pranks just for the hell of it.
If I had telekinetic powers, I would want to use them as much as possible, in as many ways as possible. At the same time, I would do my best to conceal the fact I even had powers, to avoid becoming a target. If you tried to change the world with your powers, I can't imagine you could just go around wherever you wanted without the very real threat of someone attempting to shoot you.
Although, you could always just create a force field around yourself at all times I suppose!
EDIT: Put it in spoiler just incase
Spoiler: show
movie was ok. Problem I had I guess that my expectations was too high.
Movie seemed very "Jumper"ish to me.
Saw the movie, read the rated R script, I wish the movie was R..

I'll be flat out honest here, I would totally get back at a lot of people/corporations that I felt have wronged me. Not by outright killing them all Alpha style, but probably doing some shit, and I think anyone who wouldnt is lying to themselves. Would I use it for good eventually? Yeah. But if its one thing anyone knows, is that even if you use a superpower for good, no one is going to regard you as being good, they'll look at you as some sort of monster
I aint gonna lie. I'll be a flat out super villain.
Lex Lutherish if you will
I'm pretty sure alot of people would. Whenever I think of getting superpowers I think of people that would wanna hurt me/experiment on me and of course that shits not gonna fly so you gotta whoop some ass. Show people you ain't someone to fuck with!
Beating the shit out of some douchebags would be fun too.
I would most likely try to rule the world.
Only have to lay low for so long... then you're strong as fuck (basing this on how chronicle went) then you just fuck shit up when you're super strong.
Yea rly, get strong enoug and go Neo on the world if some one tries to fuck with you.
Exactly
Spoiler: show
Saw it this weekend, and loved it much better than I expected, especially the flying scenes.
You guys really seem to underestimate the world lol. No matter how strong you get, one person cannot take on everybody. You need to sleep, you have weaknesses, you can't account for everything.
Ending spoilerSpoiler: show
You will get taken down, even if its not easy. Plus, what does "fucking shit up" get you? Your powers would be far more useful to you if you lay low and use them to get what you want while not attracting everyone's notice.
Was fucking awesome. Definitely one of my favorite movies. As much as I loved it, though, I still think the way they look when they take off is a little retarded. Lol. The scene that comes to mind is when Matt flys out of the window after trying to punch the main kid.
