Not to go all failure but, no. We'll be figuring out which one is better (99% certain it's corruption) and that's that.

The same is true for pretty much every dk talent "choice". I can look at the entire tree right now, and other than the wtfworthless tier, I know for certain which one I'll be forced to take in every tier.

Yeah corruption will hands down be the best, especially if haste keeps being one of DKs primary stats. Empowerment is just too RNG and Blood Tap compared to the rest is pointless.

Honestly I'm amazed that they're leaving them exactly the same so far, you'd think they would have realized with corruption being a talent now that's made to convert empowerment into something better... that corruption is better.

    derp?

My experience with DK is very different than Warrior. But I tend not to look at the individual abilities and more look at mechanics. That said there is a move to hybridization because of PvP even among the DPS classes (CC breaks, self-healing, etc.) but I am not going to touch the PvP vs. PvE design debate here.

What I don't understand is that you say you are losing unique things, and one of them is something you are getting back. Corpse Explosion. I actually found the DK talents to be some of the most unique and interesting talents. And perhaps most importantly, it looks like they have a tier of talents that actually effects game play mechanics for the class so you can pick the rune regeneration model that you prefer (yes, one will likely parse to be better, but I have found that this kind of thing can massively effect DPS if you can't control the mechanics correctly).

That said, let me reemphasize this: ALPHA IS ALPHA. The problem is that you are looking at some new things and some old things are the same time. Honestly, for now, I would just look at things in a vacuum and not as a whole yet.

If you want to see some lame talents, go look at what the Rogues have to put up with... yuck. Your grass is far more green.
When I started playing Cataclysm beta, the rotation on Paladin made no sense. There was huge downtime, holy power sucked (had to use holy shield every 9sec with your hp), consecration lasted 30 seconds and you would aggro all the respawn/patrol. It's not until the very end of the beta that I got a rotation that was fluid, and got back my utility skills.

People who are looking at anything beyond the general concept of these abilities are doing it wrong, and even that is probably going to change.

    This x100.

You cannot look at a change in relation to the current game and call it important. You have to put some trust in Blizzard to rebalance things somewhat with a new system. Random example: Hunters are losing more due to the mainhand/ranged weapon change than anyone else (~450 agi and high secondaries, vs people losing like 150 primary stat and equal secondaries). But to say that hunters are getting screwed here is just dumb...they are going to rebalance (or as best as they can) the new system, and the specifics that change have -nothing- to do with that.

DKs will not be warriors. Warriors will not be DKs. It's pretty silly to make such a huge generalization. But I guess in the end, we're all warriors with various colored bars and "minor" differences.

Again, you are reading way too much into the talents. Of course they will make adjustments to equalize them before the expansion.

I'm fairly certain Blizzard said that weapon stats would be the same across the board (examples w/ fake numbers!) Bow- 500agi 700stam, MH+OH Dagger- 250agi/350stam each, Staff- 500int 700stam, etc. Like you said, they're not going to leave something like that unadjusted.

that's a simple matter of accounting for it in your damage anyway

that's a little different than half your abilities ceasing to exist

    Talent calc update.

My main concern with the changes are there not being enough talents and such. Every 15 levels is "nice" because of the power of them, but I like getting a small improvement every level or two. Priest and Warlock look to be more interesting than paladin for me in MoP. Then, I'm still deciding if I'm returning or not. Might still try to take the 12-month deal if it's still around to get Diablo III and MoP beta access.

Just need to be sure I can trust they'll be fixing the leveling up scaling and such, then the game will be fun for me...

Yeah. These talents are great for ending, but they kill the joy of leveling...or at least, some of it.

But I played FFXI, so it can't be worse.

NEW - Soul Reaper: Strikes an enemy for 50% weapon damage and afflicts the target with Soul Reaper. After 5 sec, if the target is below 35% health, this effect will deal 46,549 additional Shadow damage. If the enemy dies before this effect triggers, the Death Knight gains 50% haste for 5 sec. 6 second cooldown. Required Level 87.
excited for this. the implications for boss fights with adds is amazing.

I'm on neutral grounds for Lock changes. I'm not a fan of losing HP for using abilities at all, albeit a bit interesting. Burning rush is 5% HP/sec for 50% increased speed.. just doesn't seem to viable to me. Some healers get pissed for having to heal locks that life tap/hellfire, can only imagine the rage this will induce especially if they follow Cataclysm's "healing should be hard from the start" method of beginning the xpac. Very glad we're finally getting some defensive abilties too.

Wonder if the Abyssal/Terrorguard is going to replace our Summon Doomguard/Infernal spells

Am interested to see what Fel Imp, Void Lord, Shivan and Observers are capable of.

Paladin healing looks quite boss at the moment. I guess we're in for some colourful heals.

Now hoping they'll give us 3 specs or let us change extremely easily, as I'm starting to pick up and slightly enjoy Paladin healing =)

The Exo/Ret Paladin changes are also good.

Warlock looks pretty boss too really, I got one at 72 but I'm tempted to not touch it until MoP so I can shift into the new changes a bit more naturally, as I currently have no idea how to play it anyway.

    • *NEW* Demonic Tactics - Causes your Imp, Succubus and Voidwalker to behave more intelligently.

This made me lol, it seems just too ... weird. Unless it means they'll suddenly start healing you or taunting off you at low health or moving out of fire/shit?

For the hunter/mage changes, which were tl;dr for me, is it worth waiting for MOP before levelling one due to the changes, or would the transition from Cata to MOP be minimal and won't cause me to completely get aliened by the changes? I only planned to level them as profession alts or bank alts, but would like to gear it to "LFR" level at least.

As for my beloved main (DK):

Icy Grip seems like it's slotted there temporarily, it does not flow with AMZ/Lichborne

I'm really happy/impressed with the 3 different methods of spreading the diseases.

Also hoping Remorseless Winter to be as pretty as Lich King's one, not some mini animation that doesn't mean anything lol

    ---

Probably premature excitement but oh man this expansion sure looks like it's going to quite fun. Less Class homozising or whatever they called it lol

Seeing just a few of the changes for hunter, it'll be a like a whole new class probably, I'm sure they want to redo it alot, especially (hopefully) the whole focus thing.

Am I the only one who can't be bothered to read this? It's gonna take 3 minutes the day Mist is released to figure out a rotation, and that's it. Even if you change the fundamental behind a class, it won't really change the fact that I only 5-6 damage abilities and 10-15 utility skills to handle.

Getting used to the new utility skills (to add them to a rotation) is probably going to be the hardest part, but it doesn't really matter until they are on my UI.

yeah it won't take too long to get used to the new rotations of stuff, it'll just feel a bit odd though at first throwing out one those new abilities (omg can't wait for LnL no cooldown explosive shots that do 2X damage)

My hunter alt will be fun again. glavie toss is going to be hell in tight pvp spaces, and nice for add kiting in pve. plus they get a clunky fear (morph trap + scare beast) is fairly interesting. Mostly excited about DK's soul reaper execute and the return of unholy blight. hands down my favorite skill that was taken away from us in cata.
