I can't tell if you're playing or not. Rockstar is preemptively upgrading their server strength in preparation of the crush that's about to happen. SE waited until after XIV released and they saw the massive issues they had due to server shortages. So I'm not really seeing how it's the same thing here. One is preparing ahead of time. The other waited until a month after release.

One could argue its not preemptive since the game has been released, its just without the online component active since it wasn't ready for release. But I personally would agree with you since they intentionally delayed the release of the online component to bolster their server hardware before going live.

I didn't particularly have an issue with the release without the multiplayer content available. With the new baby it's going to take me a long ass time to even get through the single player content lol.

The only thing I wanna know about V, did they fucking add checkpoints to missions? So fucking annoying in 4 to get to the end of a mission and then die or have an ally die and have to start over from the fucking start.

Yes they did. Usually if your objective changes in the mission it counts as a check point. Some missions don't have them and they are kind of long. But most missions due.

To add on to that, in most missions, 100% towards gold achievement involves not needing to use checkpoints, so even though there are checkpoints, if you're going for 100% game completion, you'll have to play the mission at some point all the way through. (You can replay missions pretty much at any time though by selecting it in the pause menu to complete items you missed on the mission checklist prior)

also if you get particularly stuck/frustrated after a few fails you can skip to the next checkpoint

Well they are upgrading due to the overwhelming popularity after the game's release. While the online hasn't been activated yet, they know very well how many people will be playing since the sales are in for the game itself. For 14, they couldn't justify new servers based on pre-order numbers as that's not indicative of actual sales numbers, and like GTA5, FF14 sold far more then expected.

I love switching between characters and seeing what kind of trouble they get into when I'm not controlling them. Especially Trevor. So far I've seen him waking up on a rooftop, on the top of a mountain wearing a dress, on an island in the middle of nowhere surrounded by dead bodies, in the middle of a chase with cops, in bed with another man saying "shhhhhh", and many more.

ran a search and didnt see it mentioned but I just ran into Packie and picked him up as a potential crew member for jobs. Thought that was pretty cool to see he made the trip over from LC

I switched over to Michael once and he was sitting on a park bench yelling at a cop that he should be afraid of his house burning down mysteriously.

Trevor's transitions are awesome. I've switched to him to see him yelling at someone he had tied up under the pier, and now I just switched to him to see him push someone over the railing at the docks where you can park your boat. Tried to see who he shoved in the water, but there was no body.
