When SE changed skillup caps by mob levels (ability to cap a 95 weapon off a 90 or whatever mob), did anyone figure out how many levels lower than yours you can go before the mob stops giving skillups, presuming to cap?

simpler version: if I want to cap a 99 weapon, whats the lowest lvl mob that will get me to cap?

I do believe as long as a mob is decent challenge it will give you skill ups. I'm not sure what that is, but I capped my dagger on THF at level 90 in the original misareaux coast on the higher level birds they added there. Not that I would have wanted to skill up on them, as the skillups start coming in pretty slow, but it was possible to do.

Hey all. I just got back into this game after a two year break and boy have things changed. I have a few questions.

Do people still do dynamis? can you still gain currency from dynamis? Which areas of dynamis are now soloable by nin/dnc?

Is rdm still the amazing solo master? is there any reason whatsoever to revisit Dynamis/Sea/sky/Limbus now past 75?

I'm told that nidhogg ect is now force popped.. is it still a good way to make gil? back when I played we used to sell Ridill for 30m+, I know time has a way of changing things but the most fun I had in this game was making moneys.

(This next one is a long shot but what the hell) Is there any way other than buying gil to make tons of gil at low levels? I am fucking broke, selecting ninja as my main class was a bad idea. I've done the Norg fame and ninjitsu scroll quests(180+ yagudo bead collection was FUN) but Utsusemi: ni is 2 fucking million gil. Not really sure I can take on Maat without ni. I can't even afford some of the other :ni spells.

My second go-to class would be Bard. But I've been told Bard is crap now, after a while sitting in jeuno I noticed no one seemed to lfm for bards. Either it's just bad luck or people just don't need bards any more? what's up with that? Back in my day we used bards for just about everything :<. Merit pt, check. Dynamis, check. Limbus, check. HNMs, check! My only real problem with maining this would be that Maat would be ridiculous to overcome, right?

In the grand scheme of things what would be best to level?

Also wtf at these random I.T++ mobs in the middle of low level zones.. shit goes from Too weak to fucking rapeface halfway through. Had me twice so far.

Ah, thanks. I didn't spot that thread at first glance. I'll take a read through and hopefully answer a few of my own questions. I'd normally go looking for my own resource of information but tbh I find ffxiwiki and allahkazam outdated and terrible for info.

for belt crudelis belt(+5 str +5 agi) or scout or buccaneers?

I've been using my one time password without problems for years, but I am suddenly unable to log on with it. Apparently, it's giving the wrong numbers, and playonline is rejecting it every time. It's not the square enix password, as that still works fine on the square enix management account website. There are no other FFXI accounts (or tokens) in my household, so I definately don't have the wrong one.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Reboot completely. Give it 15 mins to reset and then if you still can't get in (will lock you out for 15 after several attempts) then call SE

Well my mules thf isnt getting past 349 evasion skill on deco weaps...which would mean you can cap out on a mob 7 lvls below you.

I'd imagine a good BLM can one-shot the adds with Blizzaja or Thundaja so that and a THF should be fine.

Thanks. Does your spreadsheet have Stardiver yet? I've been seeing some pretty comparable numbers to Shoha, with the ability to 4-hit it. I'd assume same atma as well?

Yes, I added Penta and Stardiver to the sam spreadsheet. Stardiver is very competitive with Shoha, though it depends on overall cRatio, and leans towards the same atma setup. For the config I have, they roughly match on overall DPS at about 1.65 cRatio, and Stardiver builds a substantial lead as cRatio approaches cap. For more defensive opponents Shoha wins due to its attack boost.

Edit: Does the DRG spreadsheet reflect the attack penalty on Drakes? the pDIF listed on the WS page is the same as for Stardiver but maybe it's calculated elsewhere?

Edited New question: Stalwart's drinks doesn't work outside abyssea, despite exiting in VW. Is there a way to fix that? (I can fake it by setting all 3 atma to none and cruor bonus to 0, but that's annoying)


Moar edits: Something appears to be wrong with the THF spreadsheet. Houyi's gorget, with 6 agi 6 acc and 3 sTP is doing worse for TA Evisceration than Arctier's torque, with 6 agi and 6 racc...

Yes, working on thf. It takes a lot more work to update than the others. I uploaded one with just enough to get the new weaponskill in, but the rest need tweaks as well.

Note that due to the way I've set it up, the attack penalties for each weaponskill are only calculated when that weaponskill has been selected for use. If you look at each individual weaponskill page when the weaponskill isn't selected, it won't necessarily give the correct value due to not having the attack bonus/penalty applied.

Yes, I can remove the restriction on Stalwart's. Though I guess if I really wanted to play the masochist, I guess I could implement Voidwatch atmacites and allow Stalwart's for Abyssea|Voidwatch. Hmm. I'll just add the Voidwatch flag for now, and maybe implement the other stuff later.

On Houyi vs Arctier, I'm not seeing that. WS damage stays the same, and DPS goes up by a miniscule amount with Houyi.

It didn't happen very often but I would get the occasional skill up on ep mobs in abyssea (as in a .1 or so every few mobs) while learning spells on 98 BLU.

I don't know every break down but at lvl 83 is the last lvl you can cap on lvl 75 mobs.

Whenever I try to load the test server it crashes, but loading FFXI works fine, is it a file issue?

Edit: NVM fixed it fully reinstalling.

If rebooting the comp doesn't fix it call SE. Twice that's happen to me with Blizzard's token, and I guess sometimes they "disconnect" randomly, but the SE people should be able to reset the token remotely (at least that's what Blizzard has done when I've had this issue) and it should work after that.
