I never did Dynamis really, except to get mule TH gloves, after the Dynamis changes happened and AF drop rates were improved.
I have no experience with it outside of that.
Having said that, is there any super-must-have dynamis gear for whm/rdm/blm/cor main?
I'm not seeing anything particularly amazing, someone correct me if I'm overlooking anything.
RDM-
Duelist's Chapeau- great piece 4 years ago, still great piece
Duelist's Boots- strongest nuking piece for the foot slot for RDM if +1'ed, and I believe it gets even better +2
Duelist's Tabard- Fastcast is easier to cap now, but its still a great fastcast piece.
Duelist's Gloves- Best enhancing piece for the hand slot
BLM-
Sorcerer's Gloves- best Dark Magic slot for hands. Consider potency is directly related to skill for Dark Magic, definitely great piece. The +1 adds 2 more skill on top of the +10 skill on the NQ.
Sorcerer's Petasos- again, a great piece back in the day. +1 wasn't really worth even just the cost of a little currency. Its outdated now by Goetia Petasos, but I think the released stats on the +2 version does make this piece viable in certain situations now.
Feet and body were never really that good even back in the day- and the Legs in my opinion are outdated now. The day bonus on them is no better than Goetia legs+2.
WHM-
Cleric's Gloves- I believe are still very solid.
Cleric's Pantaloons- Very good still as well.
Cap is worthless, body and feet are meh at best. I guess body is a good macro piece for regen, certainly not must-have.
Going to disagree with the assessment of body, the regen potency on Cleric's Briault makes it a must-have and the +2 version has improved potency. I have always been a huge Regen advocate, especially in situations like Dynamis where your second character can keep your HP full tossing out a Regen every so often.
To add on:
Rdm
Hat: +2 actually has 2 refresh so even awesomer
body: Actually fast cast isn't easier to cap now since they just raised the cap. Putting body much higher again. Also +2 can make chainspell last longer
blm
Hat: +2 is 5 MAB now so better than goetia... then again so are like 3 other hats including an augment I made years ago
Body: +2 enhances manafont probably more duration so nice
whm
Head: enhances devotion not sure how but might be good.
pants: +2 also enhances shellra V now.
hands: good for divine/enfeebles
Body: enhanced regen and 2 refresh is very good
Cor:
Head: always been good since have a chance to get the job bonus from rolls. Also can augment winning streak now
Body: enhanced random deal always good
hands: snapshot and can make it so you can fold more than 1 roll at a time
legs: can enhance snake eyes... probably recast but untested I think
feet: mab for WF as well enhanced 2hr
for pld CDC. What is the best boots you can get?
Heca feet+1 +7 Str, +4 dex augment +3 str, +7 acc, +5 att or some combination
vs lithe boots +6 dex
I would think heca feet+1 would win.
or some other piece?
A Vere that was obtained almost a month ago still hasn't updated on Linkshell community or FFXIAH. The char is always on MNK, it's fulltimed, logs out as MNK etc. The char equip screen shows a blank weapon slot but all other gear matches what's currently being worn. A manual update and relinking to FFXIAH has occured, and still it lists no Vere in the spot below all your levels, and community site still has blank weapon slot.
Any ideas why this is taking too long or just plain isn't happening?
The Character hasn't been server transferred in a long time and it lists its Almace just fine.
Thanks.
i haven't played samurai in like four years. how do i be good at it? tachi: shoha looks pretty sweet, so do i need a masamune or something else?
do i use ikishoten/HASSOZANSHIN build or something else? please advise.
Depends what you're using it for.
VW NMs you're definitly need to cap your skills to land songs reliably on them.
Other than that start spamming celeano for the march+3 harp and work on your empy feet, body, legs, and get your neck.
Other than that honestly I'm not sure what else to do with brd, if you have capped macc and always land your spells and you have capped +march and +ballad, all else you can do is go /whm and gear with curing in mind. Maybe get some cure potency and -cure casting time pieces?
I personally run the battle bard route as /dnc or /nin, depending on the fight. Most voidwatch NMs can easily wipe shadows so I just keep fanatics/fools up permenantly and hack away for my small little bit of damage. It speeds the fight up by a bit and there have been times I've pulled off some notable numbers.
As for brd/whm I could see something like:
Febrie's Dauge | (Augmented)Genbu's Shield [potency+5%, -cast time 8%] | Instrument | ------
Nefer Khat | Fylgja torque [Potency+2~3%] | Ear | Ear
Kalasir[Potency+10~15%, Cast time - 10~15%] | Serpente's Cuffs | Ring | Ring
Tempered Cape [potency + 4%]| Witful Belt | Praeco Slacks [potency+4%, casting time-3%|Serpente's Sabots
Refresh/regen, potency+5% from serpente's set.
total of +30% potency, could hit +40% if you used the +10% sword instead of felibre's, depends on whether you want to buff your songs up or your cures up.
If you got your hands on shiney body and went for +1 Fylgja torque that'd total up +46% cure potency. Not bad at all.
Just got a coruscanti. Willing to do some tests on the severe damage effect. Not sure where to start, but willing to learn. =)
What do CORs merit these days? Both group 1 and 2
I got a new computer for Chirstmas and my cd key for FFXI is long lost. Can I just copy FFXI files on my old computer to a external hard drive and on to my new computer and it will work just fine?
Any gear that has the (Aug) tag on it for augmented gear, can't show up on the official LS community website. For some reason the upgraded versions of relics, mythics and empyreans have these tags, even though they don't actually have any augments anymore, I think its just something trial of the magians slaps on there. Guildwork can update these slots on FFXIAH profile by telling FFXIAH the base item with no augments is there.
It's a problem with all augmented items, for example, Moonshade earring won't show up without Guildwork either, and when it does, it shows up with no stats at all.
I went:
G1, 5/5 PR Recast 5/5 QD Recast
G2, 5/5 Winning Streak, 1/5 Loaded Deck, 3/5 Snake Eye, 1/5 Fold
Winning Streak just means I have more time to pew pew and spend less time rolling. Snake Eye and Fold are only really there to get me my first XI, because after that I can chain them forever. Having the shorter recast on Snake Eye can come in handy, since if you're shooting for an XI it brings your chances of hitting it on any one roll from 17% to 33% while it's up - which can leave more time for pew pew. Having 1 in Loaded Deck is just nice to help target abilities on cooldown, though Random Deal has a tendency to just reset the ability with the lowest time remaining so try not to use this while PR is down or else you'll just reset that rather than something with a longer recast.
Oh yeah, and PR recast merits are additive with the -30 second PR recast bonus from XI so you end up with a 20 second PR recast during chains - very handy.
