I've been through about 4 girlfriends and 20 girls since i first started playing xi, I quit the first time because I realized I was starting to ignore my gf at the time. I remember her trying to get my attention by giving me head under the desk and I'm like wait a minute, I'm trying to do something in the game lol

WHERE ARE MY THREE A.M. TIAMATS?

Imagine yourself, one of the few in Aht Urghan Whitegate, your biggest competition, OrderoftheBlueGartr is in Mount Zhayolm in full force. Cerberus wasn't up earlier when you checked, and you're itching to finally get a server first kill. You have a pretty okay friend in BG, so you ask them what they're up to. The person responds: Assault. 4 parties. OH WOE. HOW DID WE NOT SEE THROUGH HIS LIES? And so eventually you are tasked to run out to Mount Zhayolm and see for yourself because it was you who acquired said information. Remember, there's no Heavy Metal plates. Also, I do not even know if you have the Staging Point. In fact, I think this is your first trip to Halvung. tl;dr BG is killing Cerberus and you've done fucked up. Don't worry, your LS will get server first Hydra (at least NA first???) Later, a member of your linkshell will leave and join BG and farm Hydra in the future with something like 1/5th the numbers you used.

Also, racing against those fucking JPs and all your other competition to get to various NMs. Tiamat, Khimaira were my favourite runs. I've logged out at Khimaira to get a phone call at 6 AM to fight him and end up logging out before it's dead so I can catch my bus. 3 AM Tiamats that I called out sick from school for because we wouldn't end up killing Tiamat until 11 AM. Good job stunning that flail that the leader's e-GF caused by being retarded. Private vent binds. soisoisoisoi. Lokimika, Ecurb, Halie, Sendoh, Belkin, Maxxthepenguin, Hirronimus, Katsuyo, Kytel, Nikkei, Neosolidus, Quicklet, Setsuko, Tengaar, Ziddan, Veritas =(

BROS BEYOND BROS god my friend list is almost full and only 7 people log in now

I'm so fucking bitter about WOTG. Expansion had so much potential and it was such a fucking let down.

Maybe I'm the only one who thought from the first trailer that WotG was gonna be absolute crap. I was wondering wtf everyone was excited about.

CLEARLY DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE STORYLINE AT ALL. THE CRYSTAL WAR IS WHERE IT'S AT.
And I feel that WotG could have delivered a LOT more storyline-wise even though I still think it's the best expansion as far as story content is concerned.

Yeah, I was so hyped because of the crystal war. I was thinking we were gonna be fighting alongside everyone that got stuck in dynamis and there would be epic battles and storylines on each major player in the Hydra Corps. Such wasted potential on such a great storyline...

Let's just say that I wasn't particularly a fan of the direction they took with delivering the story in ToAU, and I didn't see why they wouldn't do the same for WoTG. Sure it is a nice setting and sure the storyline was decent, but as soon as I saw the reused zones and realized just how soon the announcement came after ToAU I could guess what was up.

It's not that I didn't care, but in my mind the devs had pushed delivering a story more to the side with ToAU (which made me not give much of a damn) and that automatically made me skeptical here.

I'd say you missed a great story... but if you had stayed around after TOAU you would've spent 3 years without seeing it end. Can still go back and do it, and it's in fact what I did this year. It'll probably be more enjoyable too since you won't be waiting months between CSs.

I thought WOTG had the best storyline of this game. I enjoyed the few twists and I loved the characters.

I do agree that a lot of things could've made the feel of the story better: every fight happened in a stupid reused cave which paled when compared to the more unique battlefields of COP and TOAU, and overall I didn't find the WOTG areas as interesting as the COP and TOAU ones (since they were reused too).

Lastly, Walk of Echoes. COP had this really cool build up towards reaching Al'taeiu, and (storyline-wise, capped BCNMs back in 2005 aside) I thought it was pulled off well and it made the area feel very special. I was expecting a lot from Walk of Echoes: quests, learning about the memories/futures that ended up there, being able to freely traverse the area, maybe using it as a lobby between cavernous maws, etc. Instead we got Kupofried and Campaign v2 with 0 connections to WOTG. In my eyes they wasted the only unique area of the expansion.

Makes me sad to think about what WOTG could've been with better battlefields, areas, and content.

wellllllllll I feel like Walk of Echoes / Abyssea / Atomos are all being tied in with this Voidwatch storyline but I admittedly haven't even gotten the first VW CS yet

I also expect the Apocaplyse Nigh-like tie-in quest will be coming at 99! Hopefully the first 99 patch, man.

I can't tell if we're gonna kick Odin's ass or kiss his ass though

I did stick around for like 2 years after toau. And I did have a decent time doing that stuff with a few friends. Aside from the English those goddamn Elvaans used which I couldn't even comprehend half the time, it was great.

I do agree that a lot of things could've made the feel of the story better: every fight happened in a stupid reused cave which paled when compared to the more unique battlefields of COP and TOAU, and overall I didn't find the WOTG areas as interesting as the COP and TOAU ones (since they were reused too).
I also didn't like the lack of level caps for missions obviously designed for level 50's and the over-all feeling of fights not challenging me in the slightest. It always felt like oh yeah, whatever party setup goes, lol did you think this is gonna be hard? Just enjoy the cool cutscenes.

While it may have been a somewhat of a waste of assets, dedicating areas for the storyline instead of us going through the same areas we've been playing since the start of the expansion to experience the story was what made CoP so cool for me. I guess I need those sort of things, the actual storyline aside, to enjoy myself enough.

Of course ToAU delivered in other ways but I didn't get the vibe from the WoTG trailer that it would do the same.

    I remember:
Walking to Jeuno on my 20 Whm without sneak or invis items (didn't know they existed) and being scared shitless. Ended up HPing back to Jugner so many times I deleveled to 19 x.x
Buying a pair of Zealot's Mitts for something like 20k and thought I was the most pimped out Whm ever.
Thinking Benediction had an OMGWTFBBQKITTEN level of hate and it should NEVAR EVAR be used unless everyone is already dead.
Thinking that I should make a wind resistance build JUST IN CASE something cast Silence on me.
Buying extra food to give to melees and mages in parties in case they forgot to bring it. On that note, being in parties that needed food.
    Ranger burns. Mana burns (omg8k/hour).
LoO kitty parties and learning how to -NA like a fucking champion.
Doing most of my missions and AF quests on a PS2 with absolutely zero knowledge of Alla or any sort of Wiki existing.
Life before windower; before the dark times, before the Empire (and the BG Illuminati).

Showing off Avatars, especially Fenrir, and attracting a crowd, was entertaining back then.

I forgot why people did it outside town though. Was it because Summons/Pets/Wyverns weren't allowed in town?
