Albert Pujols may not be a Miami Marlin by the time he wakes up Wednesday morning. But the team expects a resolution to its bid to sign Pujols, one way or the other, in the next few hours, sources told ESPN.com Tuesday night.

The Marlins have pressed Pujols and his agent, Dan Lozano, for an answer on their latest 10-year offer, sources said. Meanwhile, Lozano was continuing to talk with the Cardinals, who have an offer of their own on the table.

Chicago White Sox general manager Ken Williams said Tuesday that he hasn't used the word "rebuilding" in 12 years, so describing the trade of Sergio Santos to the Toronto Blue Jays as the start of a rebuilding process hammered home the magnitude of the transaction.

The White Sox dealt Santos, who had 30 saves, for minor league pitching prospect Nestor Molina.

"It is the start of a rebuilding," Williams said. "You guys know I have not used that word in 12 years. It's the start of a rebuilding now. Is it the start of a falling-domino-type rebuilding? No. Absolutely not.

After reports that the Angels were in discussions with Pujols' agent Tuesday night, ESPN Insider's Jim Bowden tweets that Pujols is down to the Marlins and Cardinals, which means no Angels and no Cubs.

The Mystery Team has entered the mix! USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that a third team, in addition to the Marlins and Cardinals, has made an offer to Pujols. All three offers are for ten years and at least $200MM, according to Nightengale.
